@mammoth-bear-12532 tagging you here as well as you had previously proposed a solution to this issue.

@elegant-state-4, hey, could you confirm you have python installed?
python -V
or
python3 -V
e
@astonishing-answer-96712 Python 3.8.2 installed
a
And you’ve pulled in the most recent version of the repository?
Does building the whole project fail similarly? https://datahubproject.io/docs/developers
e
Yes.
./gradlew build
also fails at the same stage

Could you paste a bit more of the logs - I’d like to see which pypi package is failing to build properly. In general, this means that you’re likely on an arm64 machine and you don’t have python development headers installed, although the way to install those headers varies by the way you installed python
e
@dazzling-judge-80093 this is the issue I am having
w
Hey guys, any update on this?
d
How did you install python? These headers should be available normally and I’m trying to figure out how it is possible it is not there. On linux you should install the python-dev libraries but on mac homebrew should install this
w
@dazzling-judge-80093 I’m on apple m1, installed python 3.9.16 through pyenv
d
I think this issue is related to your issue -> https://github.com/pyenv/pyenv/issues/1408
I think you should do something like this:
Ended up doing python-config --includes to find the header location, then ran export CPATH=/home/ubuntu/.pyenv/versions/3.8.12/include/python3.8 (the header location).
w
Doesnt fix the issue unfortunately 😞
d
@wooden-breakfast-17692 please, can you check this thread? I think the issue is similar and there we could progress with it: https://datahubspace.slack.com/archives/C029A3M079U/p1674152430384559

If that thread doesn’t solve it, it might make sense to hop on a call to debug this since async seems to be slowing things down
w
Hey guys thanks for the help. Resolved this issue by clean installing python without pyenv.
