Hi team! I was wondering if we can (1) add custom columns or additional to the schema definitions in DataHub.. For example, some of our data dictionaries contain sample SQL statements, or sample values, or have links to the github where the column is defined in SQL, or have links to the table used in BigQuery where the column exists or have comments or notes (2) We also have many view definitions for the tables we use so fields are replicated. I was wondering if there could be some intelligent lookup so that if the column was spelled the same way the description would be filled in or can views inherit the column definitions of the table so that we don't have to type these in? (3) Also I wanted to follow-up on linking documentation at the project (container leve)?

HI @silly-dusk-92062 👋 answers below: 1. Your engineering team should be able to emit metadata that attaches these additional pieces of information as rich markdown. We can work with your team on this. 2. In cases where views are sitting on top of tables, and they are missing field level descriptions but the underlying table has it, it would be really cool to wink in those descriptions (will log this as a feature request) 3. For containers (and attaching documentation to them), it seems like we will be getting to it earliest in January 2022. (unless someone from the community contributes this feature!)
thank you 1

Hi folks! I’ve migrated these over to our new request portal - please upvote/subscribe to updates there! • Propagate field/dataset definitions from Datasets Views> • Data Container Support
