Looking for insight/help in what to quote a prospect. They have 42 blog posts that need polishing according to their style guide (and, from the look of the example they sent, also from an editorial standpoint) before they can go live. I do this all the time as a member of a writers' collective (and, of course, for my own content), but I've never quoted a client for it. What would be a reasonable rate for the project as a whole?

I would ask for their budget first! otherwise, just based on what you've said above, I would probably quote $100 per blog post (but really depends on how much work they need and how long each blog is)

Thanks @colossal-lighter-34880 -- that's about what I was thinking as a baseline.

oh nice! good luck with the project btw -- that's so exciting!

Thanks!

If not too late, I’d suggest considering if there will be rounds of edits or not, as part of your calculus. I like to charge for value, not time. If this was me, I’d quote one sizable package cost that includes a round of feedback and edits for each of the 42; and then I would add on 30% to that number šŸ™‚

Other factors are when they need it done by (is this a premium on time/quick turnaround emergency or something they want completed over the course of months?). Same consideration for length of the blog posts — is it 42 long form (1000 words+) pieces? Or shorter articles? This is partly why I say add on 30%!
