What does open world mean in tool context?
# 🖥│support-forum
Also is there a way to disable premium tools?
u
Hey Chip, On "**open world**": it's an MCP-spec annotation (openWorldHint), not about CRUD. It means the tool may interact with entities outside a known/bounded environment — third-party APIs, sending emails, posting to external services. A tool with openWorldHint: true (the default) can reach the broader internet; one with false only operates within a closed, predefined set (e.g. reading from a specific local DB table). It's a signal to the orchestrator about the tool's potential blast radius, not a CRUD descriptor. On disabling premium tools: no single toggle, but you can list them in the session config. The 5 premium toolkit slugs today are
composio_search
,
perplexityai
,
exa
,
serpapi
, `codeinterpreter`:
Copy code
session = composio.create(
    user_id="user_123",
    toolkits={"disable": ["composio_search", "perplexityai", "exa", "serpapi", "codeinterpreter"]}
)
