Yup! You can run multiple agents, each inside their own container in a pod.

also just to confirm, from the novnc instance how would I specify the other applications? by name?

do I have any control over the network in the "stack" or "pod" ?

Hey, I am as well at this topic, and am curios if it is possible without a kubernetes pod, because I just have a docker installation and a small server for this. 
So basically I would just want to add a second docker container (e.g Elasticsearch with Kibana) to my current workspace. 
Now I tried a little bit and found that you can access anothers workspace open ports, if you know the internal IP.
Is this behavior consistent and ment to be this way or is this just due to me using a single coder installation with  multiple docker containers?

That behavior is pretty consistent with how Docker works. You can create an internal Docker network for each workspace so the two containers can talk, but no other ones could.

Awesome, I hoped I could attach this network to a different workspace somehow, but it seems to be not possible. 
Would have loved to attach my kibana and elastic search only when necessary.

I also tried to install the coder agent in the elastic search and kibana image, which kind of works. 
Agent is active and running, but the elasticsearch isn't starting with it anymore. 
I hoped I could just use coder port-forward to connect it.

Did you override the entrypoint? That's probably why it's no longer running.

yes I did, got it sorted out now, thanks. 
I now use a custom network to connect my elastic search and kibana (or whatever docker image I need) into the same file as my regular workspace. Will be 2 templates now to save some resources and not have the elastic search kill my cpu and ram all the time.

Hi again, I'm using pre-built images from my registry and I was wondering why coder seems to be having trouble with them

just as a preface, I'm using alpine for all of my dockerfiles

coder should run in alpine as it's not linked to libc, do you get any logs messages or anything saying why it can't launch?

(in fact the docker image we publish is based on alpine with no changes atm)

if you're using coder v1 I gave you bad info unfortunately, alpine is not supported in workspaces on v1

only linux_amd64 with GNU libc is supported

coder v2 at https://github.com/coder/coder supports a multitude of architectures and doesn't depend on libc though

oh, that's a good call.  What's the image for v2?

to run the server for v2 in docker you can use the docker compose

you should check the logs of your workspace docker container (it'll be easy to see if you do `docker ps`)

domain is local, domain is not accessible over internet, domain A record is in a local instance of unbound

it is not resolvable from the  coder workspace container. It is resolvable from other docker containers

it is resolvable from the container that hosts the coder service itself though

not sure then, you'll need to figure out why the container can't resolve that hostname

maybe /etc/resolv.conf is pointing to the wrong IP

I added it to /etc/hosts in the workspace container and that remedied it.  should this be a PR to fix the template?

I usually just do a "docker build - < name.Dockerfile" in the folder where the docker file is.

I'm not sure how that would solve container failing

well as far as my small experience with coder and docker goes, it was always a docker build error for me. And that way you can see the regular docker log for debugging the docker build file. But I am also just a user, and in no terms an expert.

I don't know if I'm really going to do this since I realised I rewrote the entire packaging system in powershell when everything else in the repo is shell scripts

although my powershell build system is cool and cross-platform

the idea is that you have a templates folder, each folder contains a ``build.ps1`` and an ``assets`` folder, that folder is cloned to a ``dist`` and then the ``build.ps1`` applies modifications to the premade template

hmm seems something specific to your image. Try referencing ours from ubuntu https://github.com/coder/enterprise-images/blob/main/images/base/Dockerfile.ubuntu

I did some googling on that error, looks like it is resolvable and Debian-specific

yes i have tested with ubuntu and worked instantly, I will try fedora and I will need to fix the debian Image ( Do you you have the link for Debian fix ?)
