hey there, we just shipped a fix to address this - we were seeing some network issues trying to fetch original video files to encode the audio portion and there was a bug where we marked things as successfully encoded. The network issues were intermittent which is why re-uploading the exact file would resolve it. Now, if we experience a network issue while encoding, we will retry several times. If we continue to experience an issue, the video will be marked in an "errored" state to clearly denote audio wasn't properly processed.

Hey Mickie, thanks for explaining the cause. Makes sense. But what could trigger a longer (90min) file failing almost constantly? Had to retry multiple times and one time it came through but then missed audio.

hmm, there might be a correlation because the longer video makes more requests (fetches from the original video file in chunked requests), so even if a low threshold of requests hit a network issue you may be more likely to encounter that. That said, it shouldn't happen so consistently that you've had to re-upload several times for the same video. If you encounter this again, would you mind raising again here with video ID and I will investigate? This is now on our radar so you won't receive delay in response

was there some changes made to the WHIP endpoint? My stream has been unstable since Monday

Symptoms: When using OBS to stream to WHIP endpoint, the WebRTC JS player does not play, and the dashboard shows the stream as 'Connected'. I had to stop the stream, and restart the stream couple of times to get the stream showing in the WebRTC player

I mean, the current implementation lacks feedback as to whether or not the stream can actually be viewed. For example, OBS can show as 'Connected', the dashboard can show as 'Connected', but the player won't load the stream. I am not even doing anything fancy, just a very simple html page with the player embbedded, no other JS element was used besides the player and its necessary dependencies.

Stream AV1 is still in beta, so we're currently doing some re-evaluation based on feedback to optimize performance and quality. As a result, there will be some intermittent downtime with AV1 as we fine-tune the feature. We'll update as we push new changes and features for more feedback.
