    No actual error, it fails with a general network not working error. The network works (the Google Drive backup was going in the background at the same time ahah) and the failure started exactly when the change occurred.

    Yes reserved for future usage. We may need to assign semantic meaning in the future. In those cases, we don't want to have to think about what possible long tail of values are out there

    If there are tools that don't let you set a specific region please let me know. I would be surprised though because AWS is so tightly tied to the concept of regions having a semantic meaning & they don't constantly have to update all the tools anytime they add a new region.

    Synology doesn't. Cyberduck by default, unless you do a custom profile, won't either.

    They don't send a region at all, I think. Which is why the error is messed up.

    (default in many tools) an alias for

    ? Then just avoid creating a region with that name in the future.

    default is more of a tool problem, if it doesn't allow it to change. An empty one, on the other end makes more sense.
