Slightly off topic - CF testing related - Looking for a permanent remote UK based Automation Engineer (if anyone knows any) - In the region of £40k + £4k bonus https://app.occupop.com/shared/job/automation-test-engineer-a6545/
Automation Test Engineer that is
m
Is that a pretty standard salary rate for an automation engineer? Maybe the current weird lbs/dollar conversion is throwing me, but I made 40k/year 30 years ago as a junior computer support lackey at UC Davis, which is not known for paying very well. Is this basically someone that scaffolds up CI/CD pipelines with automated tests using stuff like Selenium and Jest and the like?
c
From our research it seems a standard sort of rate - tech salaries in the US do seem to go WAY higher in general. The role is general automated testing using CI/CD when we get there

Ah! OK makes sense. Yeah, I mean these days things over here are pretty crazy. A friend of mine who is a lead engineer/architect is close to crossing 1/2 million a year. He works for a pretty huge company AND he's brilliant, but I was like... damn lol 🤣
c
nice! sign me up 🤯
m
haha RIGHT? To be fair, even with how much I work here at Adobe, this dude HUSTLES. And is way smarter than me. Plus, you know, I get to work with ColdFusion. Which is worth its weight in gold. 😉
So, more on subject, do you know what testing stack they're looking for? Is it like TestBox? Just in case I know anyone who might be interested.
c
Thats to be decided, we are pretty manual on front end testing at the moment. But we would be looking at something using selenium, possibly a saas provider.

£40K for a CI engineer? That is super low even for the UK
c
its a test position using automated tools not a CI engineer
m
Ok. Even so. QA people are the gold on the company. They know the business processes.

We have ex devs in our automation team (writing tests) for example. So maybe it's the definition of the job
