An update for customers dealing with the Microsoft Exchange/<cfexchange> no longer working issue. You can currently request an extension to your basic auth until the end of the year: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/exchange-team-blog/basic-authentication-deprecation-in-exchange-online-september/ba-p/3609437 Our roadmap for providing the solution sees it shipping out to affected customers as a custom patch in December. Please post here if you are encountering this issue (i.e. you use cfexchange) so I can be sure we get you the patch.

I've been contacted by our central IT people about moving off of basic auth and I suspect it's the same as this. I really don't know much about it yet, but if you could keep me in the loop or send me any helpful updates, that would be great. Thanks!

Hey Mark, where can i sign up to receive the patch for cfexchange? When will the patch released ?
k
+1. Interested in the patch. We heavily use this feature.

I am waiting on an update from the team. Keep an eye out for an update in the next couple weeks on #adobe

I have until December 16 to solve this problem. Is there any chance Adobe will have a fix by then or has anyone come up with a workaround? We have a mission critical app that depends on this. Thanks!
m
Brian, I thought MS extended support through January? Is that not correct?
b
If they did, our institution either doesn't know about it or is choosing to ignore it. The deadline I was given was December 31, but with the holiday break it turns into the 16th.
m
OK. I was told I would get an update by last Friday. Just pinged on the guy again, and I'll see him in a meeting tonight so I can badger him directly.
b
Awesome. Thanks, Mark!
m
No problem, sorry for the delay Brian.

@Mark Takata (Adobe) How did that meeting go last night? 🙂
I'm currently using cfimap to do what I do. If the cfmail tag can replace it with the advanced auth, then I might be okay because I am working part of a day next week. Not sure about others. But yes, the code sample would be great. If you want to give us the names and cell phone numbers of the engineers, that's okay too. 🙂
I must still be recovering from the dentist. I can't do what I need to with the cfmail tag since I need to actually retrieve mail in addition to sending it. Really, the retrieving part is the most important and I'm guessing that will need to be done using the cfexchange tag. I won't disagree with you on the leadership perspective. We're all just pawns in this big programming game. Maybe if I read some Dilbert I'll feel better.

I'm a fan of Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal.

Quisp?
m
I think that's Penny Arcade 😄
oh lol that's an actual cereal. https://www.smbc-comics.com/

And boy was I off. Penny Arcade has "Twisp & Catsby". How I got "Quisp" out of that is probably only something my therapist can unravel lol. https://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2004/11/24/twisp-catsby-in-the-birdsea

OK an update here. CFMAIL sounds like it will release next week. CFEXCHANGE is further into December, possibly as late as January week one. I am trying to get code samples to find an alternative. For folks with some skills, I've been told that you can use CFOBJECT and bind the OAuth token to it, inserting it into the header, to use as a stopgap. Trying to get a sample of this working to share with the community in the meantime.
b
Thanks for the update and the efforts, Mark!

Just checking in to see if Mark Claus brought me any Christmas presents?
m
Just sent an email into the leadership team to see wtf is going on.

Thanks, Mark!
Has anyone successfully configured this with Azure? I haven't found enough documentation to even get started yet. I believe we need to configure tokens for the application in Azure, but we're not sure how to go about it.
m
Brian, our support team is actively helping customers who are having issues getting the patch to work. They might be able to point you in the right direction (though if it is an Azure issue I'm not sure how much they can help)
b
Mark, I submitted a ticket but the initial response was just pointing me to a page we already had that only speaks about the CF side of things. I'm hoping the offer more assistance than that.
m
I'm not sure Brian, I think one you have a token and everything is set up on Azure side, we can help. But anything on MS/Azure side is out of our hands.
