as lucee does not support websockets, i want to buy a sockets chat application to work on my system, does anyone have recommendations
g
i installed iit and ran an example, it does not work
p
Ahh yea says 7yrs ago; not sure then
m
I had this come up recently, and I chose to use Pusher
pusher.com that is. for a true production environment, it'll probably cost 50/mo, but they have their sandbox (low usage) for free. It was fairly easily to implement. I use it mostly chat internal real-time chat system.
p
Yea I wrote a library for pusher years ago, not sure what app I have that running on these days.
m
I don't remember which library I used.. it had a pusher.cfc and a PusherAppender.cfc
p
Ahh Ben Nadel has this; very old (12yrs): https://github.com/bennadel/Pusher.cfc
m
.... which might actually not be related to pusher.cfc, so it looks like I might be using his.

We have some stuff around socketio

I've had great luck with RabbitMQ's STOMP plugin if you're willing to manage the Rabbit install (which works great on Docker BTW). I wrote the CFML SDK for Rabbit and all the websocket integration happens over message semantics which I think feels really natural
j
@gsr, in my demo code, I have a very simple socket.io setup and a cfm site that work together. As with any service, the client side would connect directly to the websocket server and the CF server would communicate via a REST endpoint. If you do not want to manage another server, than https://pusher.com/ is a nice one to use. https://github.com/GiancarloGomez/ColdFusion-Realtime-With-WebSockets-Demo-Code/tree/master/other-demo-files

If you need to scale out to millions of users, use Pusher or a simliar service.
g
The client is not big It’s a small section Basically my requirement is use the authentication they are already in the members area and they should be able to send messages to one another and the admin can broadcast a message to every user group Because there are different users connected with different groups and groups are separate so they do not connect to each other as of now The group Admin can send messages to all the meme era kf the group and the user related to group can send messages in the group and can also do a private message
m
For all considerations, the reason I personally went with Pusher, is most other solutions required me to setup the socket server, and I just didn't want another server to deal with.
g
So how does code canyon is selling such scripts if we have to setup servers
Literally this whole thing is confusing me
j
@gsr, what you are recommending can be easily done with socket.io or Pusher. Pusher will of course be easier as you don’t have to setup the server and all the extra steps required to add a way to authenticate, as by default, WebSockets are pretty open. Although with Pusher, to use private channels with authentication, will require that you do go on a paid plan, but if that is the requirement, totally worth it. Please note, any of these solutions will still require you to do a good amount of code for the client side app and authentication endpoints on your app.
Code Canyon is probably selling scripts for a chat application that you can then modify to your needs.

firebase is the best for chat & notification
g
Fire base ?
I also looked at some old lucee gits
