We use Google Sheets often over Excel, mostly because it's easier to collaborate on a document and/or share it. We haven't controlled Sheets from ColdFusion though. We do export csv or ttr data from CF, with the intent of reading it in Sheets. Related, though not what you're asking, we're moving away from Sheets too somewhat, in favor of Confluence, though IMO it's significantly more awkward for pure spreadsheet applications.
