Does anyone know of any notable variances to be aware of between CF2018 & CF2023 please?

Date Formatting bit me pretty good on my last migration. DD is now the day number in the year - you need to use dd if you want the zero-padded date.

Super great! Thanks for that

clustered scheduled tasks seems to break between all the versions with no upgrade path. CF 2023 compile times (startup) is much slower than 2018

Hey mauro! The serialization is also different. 23 maintains types better but that might bite you if you were dependent on 1 becoming true for example, or “1” becoming 1.

@evagoras hey pal how you doing ? Good to hear from you and thanks for thsi info

There are jvm flags for both of those mentioned, date and serialization, to maintain backwards compatibility until you sort out the code.
Another big one is the package manager., “cfpm”. Everything is a package now in the admin that you need to install.

awesome stuff thanks @evagoras!

regarding the package manger does it come preinstalled with packages that were there in CF2018?

No

You can absolutely install the entire engine, which includes everything in CF2018 and more. You ALSO have the option of starting with a bare engine and adding packages.
There are 2 downloads available, the "zip" installer is the barebones, lightweight option.

2023, has an ultra-lightweight install option. It seems to use slightly less memory, and the plugin for vs code is far cleaner than the older ellipse-based CFbuilder. The in-place install or upgrade works, provided you restart the services associated with it, live swapping enterprise cluster sessions work without issue. IN 2016 -> 2018 & 2018 ;--> 2021 this never worked.
