@Mark Takata (Adobe) I'mma just put this out there with full understanding that Adobe can make business decisions I don't like as often as it likes, particularly when it's subsidizing the heck out of a conference and a party, and it's also true that I haven't been to a CF Summit since around 2018 ... but it used to be the case that there was a good cross-section of sessions, even if you weren't gonna hear the L-word right in the title, it'd be stuff applicable to everybody in the community with a couple sessions on cool new Adobe stuff. This session list reads like 3/4 sessions don't matter to you unless you're an Adobe customer. Maybe that's actually the right move! But some of the submissions that I know were sent in and weren't accepted, and my schedule that has two or three sessions on it total across two days ... this one is now a social call for us more than a professional resource. I'm also sure you personally made every conference selection and therefore hold you accountable just like you also personally wrote all Adobe licensee agreements. 😁

We see Summit as the halo event for our customers. Yes, they are our focus. They have to be. As a speaker since like... 2015? Something like that, I can tell you, the talks have ALWAYS been selected with a focus on ACF. I have an amazing talk called "Unbaking Cakes" which solves the same trivial algorithm problem in like 8 different languages/formats (and is super fun). I solve it in: • CFML (tags) • CFScript • #C • PHP • Python • ES5 • ES6 • TypeScript • JQuery I've given this talk a few times and people LOVE it. And it actually shows how freaking awesome CF is (AND how similar it is to other languages, making it an easy transition). It was denied multiple times, and I was finally told privately to stop putting it in because it was never going to be accepted. Having those other languages on screen at a CFSummit was a non starter. Before you bite my head off, I DO agree with you on one item: There should be one, large, general CFML conference in the US. In addition to all the other ones (CFS, CFSE, ItB, etc). It should be co-sponsored by Adobe, Lucee and all of the 3rd party vendors and partners that make up our shared ecosystem. Like DevNexus. Oracle has their own conference. DevNexus has the whole ecosystem. A few things have to happen before that becomes real. I am working on the biggest right now. If you go to summit you will see the very first inklings of that dream in a couple places. No announcements yet. This is a long game. The people that need to know about it, know about it. The fox is watching.
Also I have the EULA tattoo'd across my back now in script 🤣
Oh yes, my email is ALWAYS open for suggestions, comments, recipes, poems and love letters takata@adobe.com. I promise I am listening. I am working inside a system though, so sometimes things... um, move slow. But they ARE moving. :)

I think any reasonable person expects an Adobe conference to focus on Adobe things. Reasonable people can disagree on how that dart gets thrown, especially when one of the reasonable people involved hasn't got any skin in the game and just wants content relevant to his own interests. I think all I'd say about this one is that, my expectations haven't changed and in the past I've walked away with 'that was cool and what I expected' whereas this time I'm more in the 'is Celine still in town?' camp. Obviously if Adobe can fill the room with the session lineup it has then I'm just sour grapes. But then it's also been the case that, in the past, the 'Adobe-only' pieces of CF were ... kind of the pieces to avoid, whereas now there's obviously a push to carve out some differentiation with some of this stuff and you'd know better than I if it's any good.

But what else is CFMan supposed to go fight crime in dude?!?
I am very reasonable. Unseasonably reasonable. Pleasingly unseasonably reasonable.

@Mark Takata (Adobe) maybe Adobe can create a drama series which talks about how our super hero, CF Man, uses CF to fight crime! Perhaps Adobe can make this available on youTube with new episodes coming out weekly. šŸ™‚
c
Come to my talk and you'll see how CF Man uses CF to fight clogs in sewer pipes! 🤣

OMG @cfvonner lmao šŸ˜‚
Monte honestly that would be amazing lol. CFMan, The FW1 Avenger, Lucee Lawkeeper. This idea has legs! šŸ˜„

They all can team up with Captain Adobe, too

Adobe should be like bosley in charlie's angels.
