We see Summit as the halo event for our customers. Yes, they are our focus. They have to be.
As a speaker since like... 2015? Something like that, I can tell you, the talks have ALWAYS been selected with a focus on ACF. I have an amazing talk called "Unbaking Cakes" which solves the same trivial algorithm problem in like 8 different languages/formats (and is super fun). I solve it in:
⢠CFML (tags)
⢠CFScript
⢠#C
⢠PHP
⢠Python
⢠ES5
⢠ES6
⢠TypeScript
⢠JQuery
I've given this talk a few times and people LOVE it. And it actually shows how freaking awesome CF is (AND how similar it is to other languages, making it an easy transition). It was denied multiple times, and I was finally told privately to stop putting it in because it was never going to be accepted. Having those other languages on screen at a CFSummit was a non starter.
Before you bite my head off, I DO agree with you on one item:
There should be one, large, general CFML conference in the US. In addition to all the other ones (CFS, CFSE, ItB, etc). It should be co-sponsored by Adobe, Lucee and all of the 3rd party vendors and partners that make up our shared ecosystem. Like DevNexus. Oracle has their own conference. DevNexus has the whole ecosystem.
A few things have to happen before that becomes real. I am working on the biggest right now. If you go to summit you will see the very first inklings of that dream in a couple places. No announcements yet. This is a long game. The people that need to know about it, know about it. The fox is watching.
