Was the switch from a JDK to a JRE a deliberate one in Lucee 5.4.1.8's docker image? https://github.com/softwareCobbler/luceedebug/issues/43#issuecomment-1626336949
Attn: @justincarter
maybe this: https://github.com/lucee/lucee-dockerfiles/commit/35fec8cbb8e2fc30cd438d88febab6d90d55ce77 ...was supposed to be, for example,
jdk8-temurin-jammy
instead of
jre8-temurin-jammy
? (both jdk and jre versions are available in docker hub: https://hub.docker.com/_/tomcat )
i worry that this will be a breaking change for some folks. (it is for my project and for luceedebug users.)
(Also, heads-up @David Rogers)

Yes it was, size is important and most users don't need a jdk. We can add an 11 one back into the mix. 6 bundles a third party java Compiler to support java udfs
j
we can do both JRE and JDK

luceedebug error message in this case should now print out a "are you running a jdk?" hint, before terminating.

What's the actual jdk dependency?
j
we can do both JRE and JDK
@justincarter, would you like a ticket for that, or is it already planned?
j
it's planned, I'll get it done soon
j
thank you!!
Submitted https://github.com/lucee/lucee-dockerfiles/issues/78 so I can stay in the loop.
z
probably only jdk 11 builds, it already takes a 15mins to produce all the builds
👍 1
our java 8 support is on life support
j
java 11's all that most jdk users will probably need
z
cool
@justincarter is hopefully getting a chance to look at this tomorrow
