Just installed Lucee (latest prod version) and used the boncode adapter to connect the website but getting this error: Anyone know why this is happening ? I just create a simple hello world page so no complex code but each time Load the site in the browser I get this:
z
which version of valve / mod_cfml are you using?
m
oh i'm not sure @zackster How do I check?
z
tell me a story about how you installed
m
Sure
• Downloaded Lucee Windows Installer Version • Created a demo website • Added the site in IIS
And then ran the boncode connector
Thats it really
z
alas, IIS / boncode is a bit like asking me about php or .net stuff, I'm sure someone else can help?
m
ok thanks @zackster so I guess you don't use IIS then šŸ˜‚
w
don't know the specific cause of what you're seeing, but ensure that the application pool is set to .net v4
m
@websolete GOOD SHOUT! Ill check that thanks
yep it is
z
yeah, I'm mostly an apache person, tho at day job, it's mostly nginx. I love my text base config files

The company i am migrating from CF to Lucee is Azure Windows based so unfortunately I have no choice šŸ˜ž
z
no worries, I'm one still one of those windows desktops freak amongst all the mac terminal users šŸ™‚ all I'm waiting is for win11 to get ungroup fricking startmenu items again, it's happening!

While I'm not an IIS guy either, it looks like the server keeps redirecting to itself. If the mod_cfml module is in play with the Windows installer, then when Tomcat fires up for the first time and a page is requested, it will issue a client redirect so it can create the Tomcat context. This might be were things are broken. I think mod_cfml does a 306 redirect by default (my memory is hazy here though). So if that's the HTTP status code coming back, that could be an indicator of the problem.
A different alternative to what you're trying to do would be to use Ortus' CommandBox to run Lucee and then just IIS as a proxy to CommandBox
If I were on Windows, that's probably the route I'd go
One benefit of going the CommandBox route is it will make your environment easy to distribute.
Once you get your config sorted out, anyone in your organization should be able to fire up CommandBox with your setup files and run the application.
We're not using,, because we already had stuff in place, but it's an option worth checking out.
it's certainly going to be the easiest way to start testing things.
@bdw429s has way more valuable input into the CommandBox usage scenarios than I can ever hope to have.

Sorry, didn't real the whole thread-- I don't think Boncode has any redirect code built in, so if you're getting endless redirects, it's likely coming from your CF app code
Most common scenario is a redirect from HTTP to HTTPS and not looking at the correct proxy headers
As far as CommandBox, yes CommandBox works quite well behind Boncode and has native support for mod CFML which is even more fully featured than the Tomcat valve (vdirs support)
m
@bdw429s think i will try the commandbox route as now after re0installing and installing I keep getting this error so wont even install now:
any decent instructions on how to install lucee from commandbox in windows?
z
google it
m
i have only ubunti i can find
b
I have screencasts on setting up boncode and docs on modcfml, but I should also let you know we're testing out a new CommandBox feature called multi-site right now which aims to completely eliminate the web server in front of CommandBox by allowing you to declare as many sites as you like right inside of CommandBox. (This will be part of CommandBox Pro)
m
sounds cool . Have you got alink @bdw429s?
b
install lucee from commandbox in windows?
Not sure quite what you're asking there. @bdw429s sorry for the questions. Complete novice at setting Lucee up via commandbox. I have the server up and running now but how do i connect my webfiles? Where and how do I do that?
@bdw429s
b
You start the server in the web root.
CommandBox> cd /path/to/webroot
CommandBox> server start
As far as the Lucee password, I recommend using CFConfig to help manage that. All your CF settings can be put in a JSON file or env vars
m
ah right cool. is cfconfig a commandbox command ?
is the json file where you can add a "proper" url to the site (i.e. something.com)
b
It's a module that installs into CommandBox, but as of Commandbox 5.9, it comes bundled out of the box. This is my favorite way to set a default password for all local servers
Copy code
propertyFile set ~/.box.env cfconfig_adminPassword Password123!
CFConfig docs are here: https://cfconfig.ortusbooks.com/

The
server.json
is where you would configure the hostname of the site. There's a LOT of things that can be configured, so you can read about all that here: https://commandbox.ortusbooks.com/embedded-server/configuring-your-server
m
amazing!!! Thanks for all your help @bdw429s Sorry for the daft questions!

You can also ask further questions specific to any of the Box products in our #box-products channel. But if you read all those docs I've linked to, you'll get a lot further šŸ™‚

life saver thanks ever so much
