question for license...what does this mean: we have Adobe ColdFusion Enterprise Term License -- 12 months....Does this mean we have to pay an annual fee for the license? as you all know license wording is confusing....

Not a lawyer, not looking at your license, but that sure sounds like you have a 12 month license, and you'll need a new one of some kind after that.

Dan, you have an ETLA, which is a "term license", meaning it is kind of like a subscription. They're sold in 1 or 2 or 3 year terms, sometimes at different rates. They usually include things like upgrades of the version, etc. I would recommend you speak with your customer success rep, if you know who they are. If you don't, I can do some digging and find them.
License term improvements are coming, this is top of mind currently. My yelling is finally getting through.

Messaging and communication improvements are needed.

@Mark Takata (Adobe) thanks for this...my tech leads did what you said and checked with our rep to find out....thought i'd reach out just in case, but I assume they got the info they needed....

it would be nice if Adobe did overhaul the licensing for ColdFusion. Sure big businesses and governments can shell out for licensing, but if you want to run this yourself on your own blog and don't want to necessarily run lucee or host on someone else's rented licensing, 2600 is a bit steep for most.

Edub even for government/corp our licensing is muddy, not to mention behind the times. This is top of the list for us (finally, I've been barking a while). Just to note, this is a non-trivial issue on our side to fix. It is capital "h" hard, which is why there's been foot dragging. We now have someone who is pushing this through, but it takes work from legal, finance, etc. Not COLDFUSION legal. Adobe legal. Imagine the legal dept at the biggest firm you ever worked at. Now imagine that dept at a firm with 30,000+ people globally. I am forever greatful our new director pulled up his sleeves to get this running. But he's drawn the line clearly: CF2024 will see the licensing changes. For what that's worth. Don't expect them with 2023, or otherwise this year. But this is a man who keeps his promises. I'm super excited.
