I am experiencing a discrepancy in how the AI / NLU extraction behaves between the Botpress Emulator/Webchat and the WhatsApp integration.
I have a flow where a "Single Choice" capture node is used to assign a user variable (user.nombre_hotel) from a list of 5 hotel options. When a user types a generic trigger phrase like "estamos en un hotel" (we are in a hotel), the Emulator's NLU automatically bypasses the choice prompt, seemingly auto-extracting or resolving the variable on its own without requiring user interaction.
However, when sending the exact same message through the WhatsApp integration (using a completely new user/phone number to rule out cached memory), the extraction fails to auto-resolve. Instead, WhatsApp triggers the Single Choice node and sends a List Message (dropdown menu) forcing the user to manually select the hotel.
My goal is for the WhatsApp integration to behave identically to the Emulator: extracting the context automatically from the initial message and skipping the visual prompt/dropdown. I need to understand why the entity extraction/node skipping works in Webchat but fails in WhatsApp under the same conditions.
- Create a Botpress workflow with a "Single Choice" capture node containing 5 options, mapped to a string variable (e.g., user.nombre_hotel).
- Deploy the bot and connect it to the official WhatsApp integration.
- Clear the user data/conversation history in the Botpress Studio Emulator.
- In the Emulator, type the phrase: "estamos en un hotel".
- Observation (Emulator): The bot automatically resolves the step, skips displaying the 5 choice buttons, and proceeds to the next node.
- Open WhatsApp from a new phone number and send the exact same phrase: "estamos en un hotel".
- Observation (WhatsApp): The bot does not skip the step. Instead, it sends a WhatsApp List Message (dropdown menu) asking the user to manually select one of the 5 options.
