# How to backup ( .bpz)

Hello everyone, I’m facing a backup/restore issue with Botpress Studio and I’d like to understand the recommended approach. I exported a bot from Botpress Studio, which resulted in a .bpz file of ~500 MB. I then deleted the bot. When I tried to re‑import the backup, the upload failed. Only afterwards I discovered that the import limit for .bpz files is ~120 MB (from documentation). 1) Is there any supported way to recover or re‑import a .bpz backup larger than 120 MB (via CLI, API..), or is it impossible? 2) I have another bot with ~2 GB of file storage (knowledge base, files, etc.). What is the recommended way to back it up safely, avoiding this situation? Thanks in advance!

Hey ! I already faced the exact same issue In the .bpz file , which is basically a compressed folder , there are two things : the logic and the document
So let's say you want to recover the logic (assuming you'll be able to upload again the right documents in your KB )
Then you can decompress the .bpz, delete the files/table content that are taking most of the size
And then retry
Something like that should work

I tried what you suggested, doing thiss: renamed bpz to .zip -> extracted the folder -> deleted some files in files/ folder -> recompressed in zip -> renamed in bpz -> but i can't load this file in botpress studio. I get the error "invalid bot archive, status error 400"
