Autonomous Node skipping 'Query Knowledge Base' ca...

Hi Botpress community, I’m on Botpress Cloud using an Autonomous Node (Gemini 2.0 Flash). I’m trying to use KnowledgeAgent as a ā€œmenu source of truthā€ for structured options, but I can’t get it to run on the turns where I need it. Goal I want my autonomous node to use knowledgeAgent.knowledgequery to search the bot's Knowledge Base for valid options (e.g., business types, amenities, and other tags) during discovery turns. The user often describes what they want in plain language, and I want the agent to silently consult KB to pick matching options (single-select + multi-select), then proceed. The Problem: Even though my System Prompt explicitly instructs the node to use the knowledgeAgent.knowledgequery tool (the KB card) to verify terms from the user's input, the tool is never invoked. My logs consistently show: "debug KnowledgeAgent hook Skipping KB: disabled for the current turn" Hypothesis After debugging, my suspicion is that KnowledgeAgent might only be enabled/triggered when the user asks an explicit question (i.e., "knowledge lookup" turns), whereas my discovery turns are more like "intent / preference capture" and not phrased as a question. That would explain why KB is disabled even though I have a Search Knowledge card and prompt instructions. Workaround To keep moving, I’m currently preloading the option lists into conversation variables (menus) and forcing the model to only choose from those variables. This works, but it’s not ideal, I'd prefer querying the KB dynamically from the autonomous node. Questions: 1) Is there a way to force the Knowledge Agent hook to stay enabled for all turns within a specific Autonomous Node? 2) If KnowledgeAgent is intentionally question-triggered, what’s the recommended pattern for "structured option lookup"? (Custom tool, separate flow/node type, different card configuration, etc.) Thanks in advance! https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/1472588022154264710/1472588022611447869/Screenshot_2026-02-15_073332.png?ex=69931df7&is=6991cc77&hm=623b7aeb1195602500e1eecccef82a244adcb2961ffaa4fd10d91b3a84a39c4f&

Hey @average-balloon-27662 can you share the instructions you have set?
in your AN
One rule of thumb is clear concise instructions for the autonomous node!
We don't want it to hallucinate so we make it extremely obvious what the goal is.

Hi @loud-crowd-60573 , Sorry for taking so long to get back to you. Here is most of the system prompt for the AN. It seems very clearly laid out to me, are there any changes you would make? The goal here is to populaate 3 conversation scope variables with options from the KB based on user input. https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/1472588022154264710/1476543445022671009/system_prompt_sample.txt?ex=69a22a7e&is=69a0d8fe&hm=36ac1683d696209fe7cdfe2c265a0175e1c02a54be207a38e304ee88975925fe&
