akmod failed when install `wl` module
# questions
u
I'm preparing to install a BlueBuild-based Linux distribution on my old MacBook Pro(13inch, 2018). I read some artical and notice that this machine uses a Broadcom WiFi chip, and it would be best to install the Broadcom drivers to ensure proper network functionality. I don't know much about this topic and am uncertain whether this is truly necessary, but I still attempted to install it while preparing the system image. However, the BlueBuild action failed. (The image variant without install 'wl' akmod compiled successfully.) Here's the error, though the log doesn't seem to contain detailed error reasons: https://github.com/7sDream/paradise/actions/runs/23132171620/job/67189494890#step:6:1232 Any help would be appreciated!

hmm, that truly is a non-existant error message
not sure what to do here, probably would have to set that bash flag that prints every command as it is run to locate the error

emmm, you mean add
set -x
in blue-build/modules 's akmods.sh right? I can fork this repo, but is there any parameter I can make the bluebuild github action use my edited modules repo?
x
you can copy the akmods module folder to your own repo and set
source: local
, or fork the repo and set
source: ghcr.io/yourgithubusername/modules
on the module
if you're willing to debug this yourself
which, don't get me wrong, would be great
i'm a bit busy, but can provide some spiritual guidance anyways

Okay, I'm currently testing the successfully compiled ISO(without installing wl) in a virtual machine, I can try debugging this after make sure other part of my os is good
Just make the ISO work, now let me try to debug the akmods thing
I made a debug build with set -x, error log: https://github.com/7sDream/paradise/actions/runs/23157544551/job/67276239758#step:6:2501 seems this ENABLE_AKMODS_REPO can't find the repo
x
yeah, that is probably the reason
the module would have to be updated to add the repo in case it is not added already

I found that using the t2linux kernel allows the WiFi on my old MacBook to work properly, so it seems there's no need to install the wl module. Therefore, I currently have no further use for akmods. I will mark this issue as solved. If anyone encounters the same problem or if developers wish to address this potential issue, I'm happy to provide testing assistance.
