# questions

When building an custom ISO i'm getting the following error at the end:
Copy code
g.i/j/build-container-installer:v1.4.0 => time="2026-02-23T14:17:17Z" level=fatal msg="initializing source oci-archive:/img_src/hema-os.tar.gz:: creating temp directory: archive file not found: \"/img_src/hema-os.tar.gz\""
g.i/j/build-container-installer:v1.4.0 => make[1]: *** [Makefile:2: base-43] Error 1
g.i/j/build-container-installer:v1.4.0 => make[1]: Leaving directory '/build-container-installer/container'
g.i/j/build-container-installer:v1.4.0 => make: *** [Makefile:148: container/base-43] Error 2
ERROR => Failed:
  × Failed to create ISO
Any ideas how to fix this?

Try using
--tempdir
to specify a place to store temporary build files. Users tend to run out of space in their
/tmp
casuing this kind of issue
h
I had that issue before and i was using --tempdir. Can i set a folder in home AS tempdir?
g
You can use any directory you have acces to
h
Can i set the path like that: --tempdir "~/bluebuild-temp"
Ok tried it again now, the temdir is definetly working, it wrights data to it during the process. But i'm still getting the same error after 1h of building.
Copy code
g.i/j/build-container-installer:v1.4.0 => time="2026-02-24T08:44:42Z" level=fatal msg="initializing source oci-archive:/img_src/hema-os.tar.gz:: creating temp directory: archive file not found: \"/img_src/hema-os.tar.gz\""

Ok something weird is going on here. Mind putting in an [issue](https://github.com/blue-build/cli/issues/new) and adding info about your system like if you have
podman
,
docker
,
rpm-ostree
, and
bootc
as well as the full command you're using?
h
My build is base on a wayblue image. Could that be the problem?
g
Not sure
I don't know much about what's in that image
