I have an ExtFAT driver to test but no hardware. Is anyone willing to help me test?
g
ooh interesting. how come you need hardware? I'm using AROS to mount filesystems here: github.com/bitplane/qemount
j
It's working on software but I want to see if it also works on a real machine and my raspbi 4 port doesn't behave 😉
Soon you'll be able to check that box green 😉

Not sure I answered the question correctly. The thinking is that extfat works on mac/window/linux meaning adding it to aros will let me easily use external drives between all platforms much easier.
g
Yeah exfat is kinda needed since it's standard for everything with an sd cards. Patent BS means it's non-free until 2028 or so though, Linux license won't apply. Not that people will be using AROS commercially for embedded stuff before 2028... at the rate of development in this project 2029 could be the year of the Amiga desktop!
j
May I ask you a source for this date so I can update my numbers?

GPT says 8321439, 10614032 and 9639554 are the important ones. But MS might have more up their sleeve, they're still licensing it out
This one's the big one: patents.google.com/patent/…/en
