Hello, I am interested in discussing static translation of m68k code for execution under AROS. The concept is when the program is requested to run, the HUNK file would be decoded, m68k code translated into C, and then compiled into the host architecture. I understand the potential endian issues as well as issues with self-modifying code. The first phase would be OS legal calls. Intention is to start in a big endian environment before testing on a little endian system.

That might not be so simple, as on AmigaOS you often loose the knowledge, which object a pointer refers to. So it will not always be possible to convert data structures from m68k to host and back.

I have a 68k JIT tool that can run a normal program from the command line on my Mac. Let's me know if you wanna have a look.

Amiga program or generic m68k?
j
Mostly generic but still with some Amiga flavor. For now.
run68k: run a 68k Amiga executable through the JIT, from the terminal. It runs classic Amiga 68k software at native AArch64 speed... all the code and a ton of doc is in my repo github.com/jonx/AROS-AArch64/blob/…/design.md

Nice
I will definitely have a look
