Thanks for sharing this! About this questions on the FAQ: > Do I need to migrate my Actor 14 days before September 30? > > No. If you have future pricing configured before September, your Actor won't auto-migrate to pay-per-usage. It switches to your new pay-per-event pricing 14 days after that date instead. Does this mean that if I update pricing from Rental to PPE on the 30th of September, it will become effective on the 14th of October?

Yea, for the sake of your customers we are continuing to honour the 14 day change to pricing that we always have. However, no new customers will be able to sign up for rentals after September 30, so during those 14 days you won't get any new customers at all. We strongly recommend making changes by mid-September in order to avoid this limbo.
i
Why not simply allow new customers to use PPE? This means deadline will be the 16th instead of the 30th. I wasn't prepared for that 🙈
e
We aren't set up for having 2 pricing systems for one Actor and given that we will only have PPE moving forward and there's so much else to build and iterate, we aren't going to build that for just 2 weeks and a small minority of Actors (most of the store is already PPE)

I understand it. But not being able to have new customers during 14 days totally changes things... And this is something new. When I asked some months ago about what will happen on the 1st of October this wasn't explained... I am totally rebuilding some of my actors to be able to adapt them to PPE. This last month was critic for me. Now I have 16 days instead of 30
Summer is complicated enough to conciliate a family with side projects... 😭
The only option I see is that Apify moves the migration date to the 14th of October. That's the only way devs can safely migrate their actors the 30th of September
The only option if you want to keep the dates you promised months ago
Just so it doesn’t look like I've been procrastinating 😅, I've already migrated more than 90% of my actors, and I'll try to migrate the rest before September 16th. That said, it would have been much better to know months ago that new users would be blocked for 14 days, so we could have planned things properly 🙏 Looking forward to getting this migration phase behind us and moving on 🙈
e
I get that - we have been focusing on the date that your migration needs to be submitted to avoid automatic migration to PPU rather than addressing the wait gap. I admit that I completely forgot you previously asked this, and now I wonder what other questions I've failed to answer. Let me address that in the channel...
i
No hard feelings at all 😊 Back in March, my questions were more generic and didn't really address this specific September 30th to October 1st scenario. At least it's clear now, and we still have some time to adapt. Thanks for addressing it!

Ok, what? I am definitely lost on this. So wouldn't fastest thing be to prepare rental actor for PPE, wait till October 1st when it gets migrated to PPU and then switch it to PPE ? Wouldn't that be immediate? Or are you even honoring free PPU users for 14 days? 🙈
i
I assume PPU to PPE has also the 14 day period.
People will trick the system if not. Put it as PPU, wait for users using it for "free", set a high price and get a huge spike of income until users discover the price change...

If you submit your PPE pricing between September 15-30, it will have the standard 14-day notice period for your existing users. Between October 1 to the date your new pricing kicks in, you will not be able to get any new rental customers, but you will continue to receive the pro-rated revenue from existing rental customers. When your new pricing kicks in, you will see the deductions on your invoice that reflect the refunds your rental customers have received on their last-paid full month of rentals (you'll see the full amounts they paid as the income for your Actor during that month with the adjustments appearing as a lower line in your invoice). If their last day is September 30th or October 14th, this migration will be treated the exact same, the only difference is that you can't get new rental customers from October 1 onwards. This does mean that, if you're playing the zombie game and waiting until the last possible moment to make your change (to juice zombie rentals), you can continue to bring in that revenue until 14 October at the latest but you sacrifice new customers for the interim.
There's no faster way to change pricing to PPE than wait the 14 days, because it's a change that could have massive implications on your customers. With the 14 days, they have time to approach you for a price override - and in the most extreme cases, we will approach you on their behalf. We have seen some migrations result in thousands of dollars of price increases for some users, so the 14 days is really better for everyone as it helps you retain your customers.
