Hi All, Need some quick inputs. I read in the doc "If the retention period isn't specified, segments aren't purged from tables." I have a scenario where i am storing data in a realtime table with upsert functionality. i dont have any timestamp column in this table while also i would want to retain the data in the table forever. does above statement apply to realtime table and is it ok to have a realtime table without a timestamp column.

It is true that without retention or time column specified, data will be retained forever. However, I am a bit confused on what does real-time mean without time 🤔

Hi Mayank, Thank you for your response. I was wondering about if we could have Realtime tables without any timestamp fields. Though as i try to create those it does not allow to do so throwing error cannot create without time column. 'timeColumnName' cannot be null in REALTIME table config". Summarizing my understanding in short we need to always have a time column for realtime table. But can wish to retain the data forever by ignoring the retention time and value configs. Kindly let me know in case of any gap in the understanding here.
