Can I only create tables via curl or UI(same effective means)? I want to lock down the API/UI and am hoping I can create tables via database commands?

In our case we have Kubernetes deployment of pinot one of the ways we have tested table creation is via configmap and running admin commands. if this applies in your case it can be an option. for prod though we use the rest end points to create the tables after pinot deployment.

How did you deal with the APIs only having basic auth?

https://github.com/apache/pinot/blob/master/helm/pinot/pinot-realtime-quickstart.yml we use this example to create our own admin command i mention is AddTable as used in this example. for the baisc auth part. if i understand correctly you point to the basic auth mechanism provided with pinot rest api/UI. we plan not to expose this atall in prod.

Yeah it’s tough I’m doing this but even this using the API it’s a shame there isn’t a config directory we can mount on that automatically picks up the table schema files

yes ur idea has to be custom built as of today.

Yeah if I had time I would contribute, sadly there’s too much work on so I can’t contribute to solve the actual problem lol
