Hey y’all! I’m writing a destination connector and I’m a little bit confused at what combination of sync modes are valid to support. I would ideally like to only support full refresh overwrite and incremental append, but it looks like this is not possible to specify, since the following spec implies support for full refresh append as well:
Copy code
"supported_destination_sync_modes": ["overwrite", "append"],
  "supportsIncremental": true
Is my understanding correct?

Afaik, you're basically right. But if you think about it, your job is not to write something that cares about what's coming in. Your job is just to write a destination that either overwrites or appends depending on the supplied destination_sync_mode. If someone wants to do a full_refresh/append then more power to them. That's on the user to set it up how they want when they create a connection. Does that make sense?

Thanks for the thoughtful reply, @Ethan Brouwer! @Emma Forman Ling - you are correct. What language are you writing the connector in? We've got tutorials in Python and Java, here's a snippet that might be helpfuk: https://docs.airbyte.com/connector-development/tutorials/building-a-python-destination#step-3-implement-spec
