Hey all, I just interviewed @Michel in my podcast - The Analytics Show. I would highly recommend it if you want to get inside his brain and understand where the future lies for data integration. In this exclusive episode, Michel offers a detailed account of the story behind Airbyte’s success & how Airbyte makes data integration much easier for businesses. - How Michel built his career as a software engineer & used it as a foundation to start his own company - Creating a product that’s not only a good-to-have but a need-to-have - How to outreach potential customers to survey their needs & use the interviews for product improvement - The ingenious idea of using the same outreach contacts to test out the MVP - The importance of community building for constant improvement & business growth - Why do you need external & internal data integrations to grow your business - How Airbyte makes integrating external & internal data sources much easier Connector to the full interview can be found at: https://pod.link/analyticsshow

an amazing book I've read recently is "*The Culture Map*" (Amazon link). At Airbyte, we're building a remote-first company, so understanding the cultural differences from a professional standpoint is very interesting. Here's a summary of it: https://blog.12min.com/the-culture-map-pdf/

our awesome @s and @Davin Chia (Airbyte) wrote an article about why data integration needs open source to address the long tail of integrations, with a few words on our CDK! if you're building a connector, don't hesitate to reach out to them on #C01VDDEGL7M https://www.dataversity.net/why-etl-needs-open-source-to-address-the-long-tail-of-integrations/

the 2nd part of the article about why you shouldn't write Airflow DAGs, about a framework can help you solve some of the problems related to DAG writing. https://towardsdatascience.com/data-engineers-shouldnt-write-airflow-dags-part-2-8dee642493fb

Airbyte gets a callout in first paragraph. Not sure we needed the “analytics engineer” title but the article overall is quite good. https://medium.com/validio/dbt-and-the-analytics-engineer-whats-the-hype-about-907eb86c4938

interesting article by Rudderstack on the future of data engineering https://rudderstack.medium.com/the-future-of-data-engineering-115f0772c9b6 a few points: • coming rise of chief data officers • data becomes important in every single development team (goes hand in hand with the data mesh concept) • data integration will become commoditized (that's us!!)

Just wrote a piece on self-service, data democratization and (natural) language. I believe Data Democratization is fundamentally about bridging the gap between our language and the language of data. Therefore, technologies like GPT-3 may bring a fresh new paradigm for data products, including how to understand how business users are using the data product and what they are looking for. @Zach Brak thought you might find it interesting after your comments last time https://jpmonteiro.substack.com/p/on-self-service-data-democratization
