For Germany it has to be a checkbox "i consent to recieve emails with updates". That checkbox can not be checked by default (the user has to actively check it). If you really want to be sure from german lawyers, you also will need double opt-in to confirm the newsletter subscription. And every mail must have an unsubscribe link. The law defining these rules ist not GDPR. In Germany the law is called UWG (law against unfair competition). **Good news for you**; the law has an exception which allows to send Newsletters and offers by email to existing customers (§ 7 Abs.3 UWG). So probably you come away without the nasty checkbox Sorry for writing a novel, but european laws are complex.

Bad news : IIRC, that clause only applies to customers that registered before GDPR went into effect

Anyway I personally prefer when the Supabase Team builds new usable Features for the Platform over building a newsletter sign up Process that complies with every law of all the 195 countries world wide.

Hi, I heard that the self hosted version of supabase lacks a lot of features compared to the version hosted by supabase, is it true?

The UI doesn't surface all of the features in the hosted version, but I think the features are all there still.

I haven't run into any missing features when self hosting

edge functions maybe? I haven't tried those yet.
