A quick question for those of you who use Supabase auth for both a web app and a phone app; how do you handle cases where a user requests a magic link, but opens that link on another device? For example: I attempt to login on the app on my phone, but I receive the email on my desktop and I try to open it from there?

This would just open the app on whichever device the link was sent to, I don't think there is any need to handle anything unless I'm got understanding your question correctly.

Let's say I can't or don't want to open the link on the device I'm viewing the email on,  but I want to continue in the app I requested the magic link from, because I'm placing an order, for example, and I already have the items in my shopping cart

Is there a good way of handling cases such as that? E.g. rather than clicking on the magic link, filling in a code from the email, as some sort of fallback option

Since there isn't really a concept of session as such on the frontend when using a JWT, you would probably have to save your shopping cart items into localStorage and then when the link is clicked and the user is logged in, they would still be available.

At the moment with magic links there are no options to use a code or something like that as yet.

For now we'll just have to settle on logging to see if it happens much at all 🙂

Most apps which have magic-link support utilise associated domains or app links - essentially the app is linked to a domain, and links to that domain will prompt the user to open it in the app.

When will accounts be able to be separated? While I am engineering manager at my company, I don't love the idea of having services tied directly to my github account. (ie: hit by the bus factor). If something happens, I need my team to be able to access our services with no issues

im logged in, have RLS enabled for all, (uid() = user_id),  trying to  insert data, but getting doesn't meet rls policy is there something I'm missing, do I have to pass in user session on the insert method or create a new policy for insert alone?

Can you provide a code example and also a screenshot of your RLS page along with pointing out the table you are trying to insert into, it might just be something not configured correctly.

I've figured the insert part out, trying to update table now. with the .eq for the update function, what follows after eg table column or row values that I want to edit?

when I don't use the .eq for update everything for that user changes, need to specify the single row to change

Looks like the correct behaviour as there is no way to tell which row you want to update without the eq operator.

How would the code look to update the 1st row. Title, description, url is the

You will have to tell it something about that row, so you have to use either the `.eg` or `.match` method

Only change I would make here is updating the `user_id` from the client side isn't great, someone could potentially hijack the `supabase.auth.user()` function using their developer console and change the user.id value. I normally do that in the database with either a hook or setting the default for that column to `auth.uid()` at all times

This is mission-critical functionality that hasn't had movement in two months, or at least, that movement hasn't been communicated. I'm now having to scramble to figure out a way to coordinate multiple subdomains to work properly because redirectTo isn't respected.

I'm guessing Storage relies on AWS S3. Is there a way to consume the Supabase storage using an S3 client?

while for ints you would need something to keep track of what int ids are used, etc

i made a mistake and made the id field an int and now i can't change it to uuid
