    Welp.

I learned that you can actually overcook a speech synthesis model.

    This is 25 minutes

    ?

    05/11/2021, 8:42 PM
    and this is 1 hour.

    it's called overfitting

    The heck is that
  • p

a symptom of small datasets mostly

    05/11/2021, 8:43 PM
    Oh.
  • p

    pi

    05/11/2021, 8:43 PM
    just don't train too much
  • t

    Toasty

    05/11/2021, 8:43 PM
But what made no sense was that it was starting to do this at the 35 minute mark

i assume your dataset is quite small
  • t

    Toasty

    05/11/2021, 8:44 PM
    It's only 35 minutes.

I was trying to go for an hour, but I didn't have enough time due to university.

The reason why I was hoping for it to sound better was because the dataset is better in comparison to the original dataset's bad splicing and bad transcription.

And last but not least, I can never figure out that perfect golden spot in training datasets.
  • p

    pi

    05/11/2021, 8:49 PM
IMHO the sweet spot is between 100 and 200 epochs
  • t

    Toasty

    05/11/2021, 8:50 PM
But I'm overfitting, and I'm at 64 epochs
  • p

    pi

    05/11/2021, 8:50 PM
    after 1h you're at 64 epochs?
  • t

    Toasty

    05/11/2021, 8:50 PM
    Yes.
  • p

    pi

    05/11/2021, 8:50 PM
    on a v100?
  • p

    pi

    05/11/2021, 8:50 PM
    of large is your dataset?
  • t

    Toasty

    05/11/2021, 8:50 PM
I had to lower the batch size from 32 to 24
  • t

    Toasty

    05/11/2021, 8:51 PM
I stopped it because it was getting worse.
  • p

    05/11/2021, 8:51 PM
I assume the ends of your files aren't good
  • t

    05/11/2021, 8:52 PM
    No, they're fine.
  • p

    pi

    05/11/2021, 8:52 PM
the alignment breaks down at long sequences
  • p

    pi

    05/11/2021, 8:52 PM
    weird...
  • p

    pi

    05/11/2021, 8:52 PM
do you want to share your dataset?
  • p

    05/11/2021, 8:53 PM
I want to take a look
