Hello. If you were to manage your contacts (info, relashionship, etc.) in Dendron, how would you do it ?

Hi! Dendron has a built-in idea of users, which works similarly to tags. By default, it can create a hierarchy that starts with

user

. You can add people under that, for instance

user.odo

or

user.kira-nerys

. Then you can use the

@

as a shorthand in notes. With these examples you could write

@odo

or

@kira-nerys

to reference that same note. You can also make further hierarchies, like

@fictional.kira-nerys

and

@historical.jemison-mae

As said above, you could use a template similar to this for a rolodex kind of setup that is integrated with your user tags (example:

) I use an extended version of the frontmatter for my own management of people 🙂

Ah sounds like the thing I am looking for: a kind of a rolodex. Curious to see this in action. The idea being I want to track my exchanges/call phones/etc

template - This custom note trait was used in the example as a way of automatically extending the hierarchy with a new note that adds the current date - Example

(todays date), so the custom trait means you can made notes in a standardized layout of the hierarchy (

@user.john.<year>.<mo>.<day>

) just like when using things like Daily Journal, or Meeting Notes This is a demo showing the extensible power if you wanted notes that were even further customized. It's a cool example of how you could log interactions with specific people, etc. under the hierarchy of a person

@kevins8 I have tried to follow the Arboretum demo and applied it to my Vault. I successfully added users right under user.* but when I try to Create Note with a Custom Trait, it keeps saying my-hierarchy.2022.08.03 does not exist. What's wrong ? The js file looks good to me

are you creating it while the user note is open?

weird, I did not have the mentioned trait. Maybe I mixed things up with the multiple vaults setup (I am not used to have several vaults inside my WS).

the title will be the last part of the msg note. you can add a human readable suffix (eg.

) at the end of the note

Thank you but it seems utterly complicated and I was thinking something inside Dendron (I do not want to expose personal data/interactions with the whole world :))
