All, I realize that i'm a noob to Dendron but v0.119.0 seems to be a bit buggy. Standard directions don't apply. I've gotten errors with introductory steps and there hasn't been any code activity on Github since the end of December... What's the most stable version? Is Dendron development still active? I really like the potential that i see but have been a bit shocked at getting a basic remote vault configured and working.

What issue did shock you? V0.119 works for me with two remote vaults

This is a very novel question that I believe can be done: I would like to rename the folder "notes" used in my vault. I get a "createMalformedSchemaError" when I tried updating my "folder=[{"path":x, "name":y}]" setting in my code-workspace but that generates the mentioned error and the extension won't load outright until I do this change including renaming the folder in the directory.

Hey there, Is there a way to change the link format from
    [alias | filename]
    to
    [filename | alias]
? If no trivial solution is found I might try to create a custom fork of Dendron. I have limited experience with VSCode extensions and I am still trying wrap my brain around the dendron architecture. Does anyone know how feasible such changes might be?

When exporting Dendron vault into markdown file-folder structure using the markdownExportPodV2, the data stored in the yaml frontmatter (like title, tags) are all removed. Anyone knows a solution to keep the frontmatter when doing the export?

Hi All, Dang, just read the announcement. Guess I'm behind a bit. For someone who's been using Dendron for a long time, what are the migration ideas?

And of course, cheers to all the work you've done and the impacts you've made! Feel great about that! Pretty great community of documentarians you all pulled together under the banner of knowledge management. Kudos!

Hello! I'm a longtime notes taker, first time Dendron user. It's important to me to have tools that work with my file organization, using the filesystem as a common interface, and giving me the ability to use multiple tools. I was previously using QOwnNotes. I have my markdown notes in $HOME/Notes. I'm surprised to read that the new Dendron way of doing workspaces / vaults is to have the notes in a subfolder. I'd prefer to store my notes in the Notes folder, just like I'd want pictures to be in the Photos folder and not merely in a subfolder. Can anyone suggest a workaround? Thanks!

Can you make a symbolic link from dendron's subfolder to your notes folder? It should make dendron think it's saving to a subfolder when really its saving to your notes folder

Hi all, what's the new workflow for starting a new workspace in dendron-cli? https://github.com/icedwater/vimdendron/blob/main/dendron.cli.quickstart.md seems to not work any more in 0.119 as the dendron.yml is no longer created, it seems

Trying to add wiki links but seeing this instead of the normal dot hierarchies. Any idea? Is something incompatible with the current VSCode and maybe I am missing something...

This is unpublished material ... any way we could have more information on the proxy notes ? This looks like an amazing feature but I couldn't manage to understand their exact implementation ...

Hello there! I'm still learning how to use Dendron, and I was wondering if a note can have more than one parent?

I don't think so. Since the filename is composed of the hierarchy I can't see how this should work. What is your use case that would require this?

Good morning- I was wondering about the state of Dendron 6 weeks after @kevins8 's announcement? (https://discord.com/channels/717965437182410783/737323300967022732/1072563304289030164). By the looks of it not much has happened since - no PRs have been touched & nothing on the Github project & website reflect that Dendron is no longer under active development. Actually, just by scanning over the questions here I even wonder how many people on Discord are aware? It'll be good to understand where the project is at. Are people interested in continuing the project without Kevin's support? Is this even possible (the fact that nothing happened in the past 6 weeks seems to indicate otherwise). Personally, I use Dendron every day and completely fell in love with it. However I'm also aware of the risk of tying my complete knowledge base to something that's no longer under active development and quite possibly will stop working with the next breaking API changes from VSCode. I also neither have the bandwidth nor the knowledge the actively contribute to Dendron's development.

Good morning ( 🇦🇺 ) everyone. I was wondering about the state of Dendron 6 weeks after @kevins8 's announcement to cease active development of the project and transition into maintenance mode. By the looks of it no public activities did happen since then. PRs are left completely untouched and GitHub / website have not been updated. I completely fell in love with Dendron and use it every day. However, if the project is as unmaintained as it looks then it's only a matter of the next breaking API change from VSCode until it stops working. 😢 I was wondering if anyone had insights or thoughts to share?

One thing to note is that Kevin and the gang still use dendron, so if there was a breaking change I'd imagine that's when "maintenance mode" would kick in

Is there a limit to the number of vaults that can be added to the

I've found that I can still find notes from these other vaults >5, but dendron lookup doesn't allow me to see all
    root
notes. It seems to have some display limit. I use this note to reference a project that I've been working on. I can do it manually, writing out,
    dendron://other-workspace/root
    .

To summarize the issue, if there are multiple notes with the same name across different vaults, the shown notes will be cut off at 6 based on alphabetic ordering of the different vaults.

Check out anchors. https://wiki.dendron.so/notes/f1af56bb-db27-47ae-8406-61a98de6c78c/ My preferred way would be to put the
    for
under it's own markdown header something like
    Loop
, then the reference would be something like
    [[note#loop]]
  • Hello fellow Dendron(ites?), I finally did my due diligence and finished the Getting started tutorial! So far, it's the preferred tool to its other competitors (s.a., Obsidian and Foambubble) and am coming around to its approach of hierarchical note-taking... I'm in the process of adopting Dendron for a few projects. However, I currently have a lot of notes stashed in org-roam that need to be migrated into Dendron. Was curious if anyone else has had to do the same and might have any tips for doing so

  • hello dendron people, I was trying logseq for a while but it doesn't fit to my workflows. there is a need to leave keyboard often unfortunately. I find Dendron to fit my flows the best at least for now, even if some flows like reading paper->note-taking is more time consuming at first.

  • I did migrate from org-roam to Dendron roughly like this if I recall correctly: - convert the notes to markdown via pandoc - Import via the markdown pod Of course this doesn't give you hierarchies so you may need to refactor a lot afterwards. Also I don't think backlinks are preserved so some manual work or scripting will be required
