something you can try for now is use dendron's
    Go to
functionality (highlight a link and then use the
    go to
command). it should open the link with your system default

the preview can be customized with a custom css file. see here for details: https://wiki.dendron.so/notes/0fbg5vbv5jzb0623pbi4v3t

Its beautiful page 🙂 we currently don't support that but feel free to submit a feature request and we can track it in our roadmap: https://github.com/dendronhq/dendron/issues/new?assignees=&labels=&template=feature_request.md&title=

https://github.com/dendronhq/dendron/issues/3105 would enable this so not sure if it makes sense to have @Raphaël vote for that one?

Good to know! Thanks very much, will upvote the issue. (It’s fantastic to be here. Optimistic that I’ll finally settle down with my notes now 😀)

Yay! This worked out great - sorry about not looking at the docs more carefully, especially considering this was in Quickstart 🙂 I'm on Victor Mono for the editor and Heliotrope/Andika for the previews and a happy camper!

Apart from the Airtable pod (which is a really nifty idea, and I'll probably set it up anyway), is there any plan for bringing an Obsidian-dataview style plugin/feature to Dendron, where you could filter notes and create tables and lists on the fly of matching notes displaying values from chosen fm fields? I understand that code-search files come close to this, and I expect that most needs will be met by that, but was still curious.

no worries, and glad you got it working 🙂 for data views, we're still thinking about it. currently, we're doing some work internally to cache metadata using sqlite (currently its a json blob). that work should be completed next month at which point, it'll also be much easier to support dataview-like interfaces. i'm been kicking around the idea of exploring https://datasette.io integration at that point to support data views and any arbitrary filtering off note metadata

Ah excited to hear that, keep me posted! I mentioned dendron to Simon once (he has office hours), I think semi structured notes metadata is a great fit for the vision he pitches of a “personal data warehouse”. And with the new datasette lite project, the whole thing can be run in the browser. If the sqlite database is exposed in the published site as one of the statics files, it should be easy to test right away. Then a custom integration could be used to enable a “click row to open this note dendron” capability.

That would be so cool! As an academic, one use case for me is for my notes to eventually become usable question banks (for the classes I teach, and all the student recruitment we do at all levels) and useful indices into papers (what is known about X/Y/Z). I'd also love to be able to pull up notes from meetings with someone, or in the context of a particular project - I think this is already covered by some office hours though. I can be disciplined about doing the frontmatter etc. properly (great to have schemas and templates for this, if I understand correctly), so the missing piece right now would be the dataviews. That said, a) it'll be a while before my database gets to the point where I can flex this way, and b) code-search will work well until then. Will look forward to the datasette integration, that appears to be another cool tool that I was completely unaware of.

and else it's the VSCode search feature
