    There is a markdown pod I know it has some limitations. You should find which exactly in the docs

    Thanks, shall look but I am after a rendered view with all content of just one note in this case, not another version of the source.

    @User Any guidance? I have prepared a few relatively complex notes to distribute to a group of people but see not way to do that without publishing, which is not appropriate for this whole vault. Even screenshots would do but I see not way to do screenshots or scrolling window panes in VSCode. Is there any way to distribute custom selections of the curated content from Dendron that I am missing? I used to copy/paste but this now loses images and formatting so I am a bit stuck.

    a few options: 1. you can export it as regular markdown using [[Markdown Export Pod|dendron://dendron.dendron-site/dendron.topic.pod-v2.ref.builtin.markdown.export]]. you can choose to export a set of notes or a hierarchy. you would need to copy over any assets to the resulting folder 2. you can create a new vault for just the files you want to share and publish just that

    > Even screenshots would do but You can run the publish dev command, open the preview and use a browser extension like GoFullPage to make a full-page screenshot. https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/gofullpage-full-page-scre/fdpohaocaechififmbbbbbknoalclacl?hl=en

    I see. Not great. What I need is a way to quickly prepare content (already great) and then quickly share one (or more) note at a time with selected people, multiple times...

    Thanks. MS Edge allows you to take full page snapshots, it is built in. So, yes. Publishing locally and doing that is what I was also thinking about. Shall have to install and configure Ubuntu on Windows or has anybody managed to do local publishing in PowerShell? It seems one cannot do this in VSCode, that would be very handy

    I did it on windows, but I couldn't use the
    Dendron: Publish Dev
    command in VSCode--for some reason it wouldn't serve or build properly. Had to run it manually with
    dendron publish dev
    .

    I am using Dendron for taking meeting notes. When I begin a meeting, I create a new Journal with a meeting-friendly template and fill out the attendees to the meeting. Is there any convenient way to auto-link the people in the meeting to a note about each person? This way, I could look at a person's note and see all the meetings I attended with them. What's the best way to create a note for each person from a "people" template (if one does not already exist)?

    I'm new to Dendron, so if I'm not thinking along the lines of the zen of Dendron, feel free to point me to the right flow

    you can link to user notes using
    @{name}
    and they become full fledged notes that you can link/backlink/etc from

    I'll also add that you can create the notes by using "Goto Note" (Ctrl+Enter by default) with the link selected. So just type
    @john-doe
    , select it, then hit
    Ctrl+Enter
    .

    Great. So, because a tag doesn't support spaces, I should "hyphenate" everybody's name? i.e.
    @Joe-Schmo
    ?
  • s

    SeriousBug

    03/29/2022, 4:16 PM
    Yup, Dendron will automatically title that "Joe Schmo" actually, so that's the best way to do it

    Great, so at the risk of complicating things: What is the support for customizing auto-generated footers for notes such as the User Notes? Trying this out, I am not seeing the backlinks in the footer rich-text-preview of the note for a User like I see "Children" in the footer for standard note. It would be nice to have that (I do see that I can find them in the Backlinks window pane). Additionally, I have my notes setup like
    project.{project-name}.journal.{year}.{month}.{day}.meeting
    , it would be great to see backlinks for users mentioned in each of these notes to be categorized by the Project Name so that I can look at a user and instantly see which projects I've worked on with them. Is that too crazy?

    There's actually a known bug that we're fixing with backlinks in preview, so that should work soon. You can also use the backlinks panel (In the Explorer section of the side bar, should be at the bottom). Otherwise if you want to automatically add some text to new notes, Dendron has template support: https://wiki.dendron.so/notes/861cbdf8-102e-4633-9933-1f3d74df53d2/ We have plans to add query support which would let you do "who did I meet with for any meeting of this project", but it's not possible right now unfortunately. You would have to manually add everyone to
    project.project-name
    , or write a script outside Dendron that does that.

    Great, the "query support" definitely sounds like what I'm looking for. I'll keep a lookout in hopes that I see that when it becomes available

    If I wanted to keep my Dendron stuff on a USB and move between PC's what would I have to do to get the second PC Dendron to recognise my files. Just opening a Vault with Dendron installed didn't seem to work.
