Wikilinks can link to headers and blocks (like paragraphs), although not to individual words. So you can have:

# my header

[[text you want to appear|note#my-header]]

I'm having a look at Blocks on the wiki. Linking to a paragraph or referencing it is perfect (doesn't have to be an individual word). But I'm testing Block Links and it's showing me the whole text in the .md file instead of Showing the specific paragraph which is on line 194, for example.

Can you confirm that your note looks like this:

If it's still not working, please try using the "Dendron: Reload Index" command

That should also work. Did you try the reload index command? I have seen some intermittent issues where new anchors sometimes don't get recognized, it's an issue I'm trying to investigate.

I see small preview window of the whole note, from the beginning and can scroll through.

That preview currently doesn't support the anchors (or headers), I'm working and it though and it should have support in a few weeks. In the meantime, you can hold down

Ctrl

while hovering over the link and it will show you where the anchor is. Clicking the link while holding down

Ctrl

also should take you to the anchor.

This is pretty funny and cool. So holding down CTRL shows me the UUID from the frontmatter in the preview. Trying it a few times, it would also show me only the UUID without the content of the file. Click on the link whilst holding CTRL takes the typing

straight on before the frontmatter.

One final thing: Could you try making sure the note is saved (

Ctrl+S

or "File: Save" command), and do "Reload Index" again?

Notes save automatically after 1 second. But I hit CTRL+S anyway. Same issue. I'll close VSCodium and run it again.

silly question, but what's the point of the note graph, since it only shows the same information as the tree? if it showed wikilinks, it would be very useful, but as is it just makes me scratch my head 😕

I'm also facing this similar issue. The wiki links are opening this URL pattern (https://file+.vscode-resource.vscode-webview.net/{absolute-path-of-the-md-file}) on browser. I'm not using insider release but did a fresh install of vscode today. This is the vscode version:

Are Block References a Dendron specific feature?

Other software has support for it too, like Obsidian. Our implementation of block references is actually compatible with theirs, plus some small extensions.

the note graph is meant to be a high level visualization of your knowledge base. its useful for those who are more visually or spatially oriented. its also pretty visual representation of what your noting down. we support toggling between edge links (backlinks) and hierarchy links (what you see in the tree view). moving forward, we'll also add local graphs - the ability to see the immediate neighbors of the current note. this is usually a more practical use of the graph that is anchored to a specific context

ah, I missed that there was a v2 where I could toggle that... although it says I have 2168 nodes, 2167 hierarchical edges, & 22712 linked edges... so turning on "linked edges" just turns the graph into a mess of spaghetti... oh well, it's still cool!

How do I move my vault which was initially created on my local drive, when I 1st set up Dendron, to Git to allow me to sync with my Chromebook? Also, I've now set up VS Code on the Chromebook, once I've moved the local vault to Git what do I need to do in Dendron on the Chromebook to begin working on the same vault? I've created an account on Git Hub and installed Get Desktop on the PC but have no experience using it. Thanks

Add your local vault to Git (File > Add Local Repository) 2. Publish to Github DM me if you're having specific issues and we'll get them sorted out.
