that's the thing I miss most about the built-in markdown preview... if I recycle VSCode (or reboot), I don't have to reopen that pinned tab, it's there with my workspace... so is everything except "enhanced preview" (no offense, I know it's a work in progress, but closing yourself on recycle isn't exactly what I would describe as an enhancement 🙂 ... and yes, I know I need to start familiarizing myself with the code so I can contribute)

So I'm fairly new to Dendron (like I started using it today) but I seemingly keep getting errors like this when trying to render my graph and also when building my site.

Which graph? Can you post the output of dianogsis here? (If you don't have sensitive notes)

I'm not one of the developers and can't truly make sense of that error, but I have received similar messages when I've accidentally deleted or renamed notes. I sometimes forget to use the command palette and will delete or rename directly in the file structure or when editing the notes synced on my phone. Have you already tried running

to see if that fixes the error?

Nope. But I suspect that's probably what broke it. I'll give it a shot. Thanks for the suggestion! It actually seems that restarting vscodium helped, so not sure what's going on.

Is there a way to disable the automatic markdown preview when I open a note? I sometimes use Dendron on my other monitor which has a vertical aspect ratio, so that would be neat. I looked both in Dendron settings and in Markdown Preview Enhanced and didn't find any setting that would work when toggled...

Theres a setting in markdown preview enhanced that lets you toggle that behaviour. Something like 'automatically show preview...'

I'm on my phone so I can't look up the exact setting. 🙃

If you look at this youtube video starting at 7:42, he seems to delete the nodes directly without using 'Delete Node'. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong please.

As a matter of fact I prefer deleting nodes directly because I can retrieve the deleted notes from recycle bin if I wanted. There doesn't seem to be a way to restore deleted nodes if I use the 'Delete Note' command. Again, somebody correct me if I'm wrong, pls 🤗

that error pops up when dendron populates the tree view and cannot find a children of a note that it thinks exists. I'm just looking into the relevant code right now but it's crunch time at work so I can't really spend more time on this right now 😅 let's wait for kevin to wake up and give us a better answer.

Just thinking about the root.md note and the index.html file that gets generated (mostly) from it. Is there a way of having a "front page" to the notes that isn't the actual wiki? A landing page which doesn't have the nav built in, if you see what I mean. I'd be happy with vanilla HTML, but it would be even better if that was markdown-able too.

I can relate. my brain defaults to directly deleting files too.

Delete Note

might be necessary because dendron stubs notes that have child notes so the child notes don't get orphaned. If deleted directly, stubs won't be created which can lead to unexpected behavior. We might be able to have something watch notes being deleted and stub them even when it's not done with the command

When I import my notes from Obsidian, the order of the links alias are reversed. Obsidian: [[link|alias]]; Dendron:[[alias|link]], then Obsidian aliases don't work in Dendron and vice versa. Is it possible to reverse the alias order in some Dendron or VSCode configuration file?

we have a delete command but we also watch your vaults and clean up in the background if you manually delete

there's a bunch of reasons why that can happen. usually when there are mixed case issues in the hiearchy. (eg. foo.one.md and FOO.md both existing). we're in the process of fixing this in a bunch of places so let me know if you see it again
