dendron is (working to be) everything that confluence isn't. fast, local, backed by git, and already integrated into your editor (if you're a dev). confluence ends up as a slow loading mess of folders and files and is getting closer to sharepoint every day

Morning all - Just started playing around with schemas, following along with the Bullet Journaling video from the Workflows on the website. I’ve created a

daily.schema.yml

file and a

daily.template.journal.md

file, but when I create a new daily journal file it doesn’t see the template. How would you recommend I troubleshoot this?

(The two files are, as far as I can tell, the same as the ones from the video)

As a developer, and with all the obvious workflow bias that entails, I am loving the combination of Dendron and GitHub Projects for PKM. We have a pretty sizeable docs site at work under a static site generator and per-team Confluence spaces, and I'm trying to model the level of interaction in Confluence (being able to drop comments inline and discuss improvements, review, likes, etc.) with the PR-driven process we use on the static site generator

I think Dendron could do what I want with a combination of pods (to pull down issue data) and some new UI in the preview that allows commenting on the files, maybe via annotations on a PR or something

i think so too and we'll be building out features this year to make this workflow easier

Regarding schemas and vaults: if I have an 'empty' vault

it creates an initial schema `root.schema.yml`; so it is redundant to make an explicit schema for

whose parent is root?

is currently not used. we will use it in the near future to set schemas that apply to all hiearchies within the vault. if you want to create a schema for

foo

, you should go ahead and set it still

Is there a way (this might be in the scope of MPE, not sure) to view several notes at once as a single 'report' that could be exported as a document?

For added context, say I have notes about my client, and additional notes about a specific system configuration they need or have, and I want to compile the two into a single exportable 'page', but have the notes remain in their separate hierarchies.

I think that can be done with a separate page that references each of those notes.

I created a schema

cust.schema.yml

which includes child nodes and description values for each child; prior to that however, I already had a note for my customer

foo.md

but it didn't really have any information in it. I deleted the node/note, and then tried to recreate it using the schema, but I noticed that the former note is back rather than a new one which includes the description value I expected.

Sorry, a question, can I use the schema to generate the tree view?

I am sold on the idea of developing a site with dendron but I am not sure whether jekyll is future proof, I mean why don't dendron use gatsby

dendron has actually moved away from jekyll and is now based on 11ty

so yes (it helps) and... is the PARA example a public repository? basically through aliases (hopefully soon)/schemas/tags I want to explore different ways of referencing areas and resources within projects

also, not a question, just wanted to shout out that the json pod is awesome. Any need for publishing to say a visual collaboration or project management tool is a microservice away

Can anyone explain what dendron next server is, in brief? Is it like using next.js for deploying my dendron notes

I am pretty much sold now on the idea of building a wiki using dendron, such a wonderful community and no worries around future proofing my blog's tech stack as you all are using it and we rely on it as a community

as far as I know the next server gets currently used for the dendron config form and to handle the preview if I'm not mistaken. But its planed to expand on it a bit.
