i was about to ask about that

src needs to be the path to the folder that contains your markdown files

so change that every time I need to import from a different folder?

I now have 137 markdown files, one for each book. They are almost all 100% YAML frontmatter. How do I get them into a 'books' schema? Do I have to configure the schema, then refactor? Or just run Doctor?

If all should go into book. hierarchy you can just use the refactor command. No need for a schema

However if really all should be there a renaming tool or script might be faster

yep. if you have folders nested underneath other folders, you'll only need to import the root

well that didn't work as expected. All book files had their extensive YAML completely replaced 😦

when I did a drag and drop the Dendron-specific YAML was added but the rest was left alone

all the imports go into book, but there are other existing files in there. None of the imported files have a hierarchical name. I am unsure how I would add 'books.' to the front of them all, at least not using Dendron...

ah, the import currently assumes plaintext markdown. we'll need to add an option to import notes that already have yaml

as for adding books, you can use

refactor hiearchy

where you match

^

and replace with

books.

(its a regex replacement)

I have some of the original files still in there - dendron.md, root.md - won't ^ catch those as well?

yep, you'll need to move them back. or do a negative lookahead for the match for anything that does not match (root|dendron)

ok, nvm - forgot to run Doctor first, adds the YAML - then did refactor - then removed

books.

from some of the default files. All ok now.

changed the markdown pod configuration to point to a new folder. Ran markdown import again. Nothing happens, no popup notifications. Nothing imports. ???

Ran Doctor - all it did was create a new file named 2020-12-30 and copied my ##Tasks section from yesterday's Daily Journal file. But I thought my Tasks were going to be in Daily Journal files, not something just named today's date?

Hey, I've finally tried to publish using the AWS Amplify method. Website runs successfully with the default dendron notes, but now I'm trying to use

Dendron: Publish

to add my notes into it, but I'm getting the following error:

I don't have any issues syncing the repository myself, but the publishing is having problems

the markdown import will only ask for configuration once. in future cases, it will run using the old configuration. you can re-configure it using

Dendron: Configure Pod

as for the doctor, I'm not quite sure what you mean by tasks. could you clarify?

is just sugar around

dendron: build pod

and

git push

, the latter being more fragile. it looks at the

publishRepoDir

of your

dendron.yml

. make sure thats set to a git repo (ending with

.git

Tasks = to-do list section

hey @kevins8 I have a project that i think Dendron would be a good fit for as well as bit of an edge case for testing Dendron & would love your thoughts. essentially the other day I realized that I might be able to convert ~10 years of text messages saved as emails and then another 2-3 signal databases into txt then markdown. this would be like.. 18gb of texts? so many. a decent mix of photos and stuff in there I am pretty sure but mostly lots and lots and lots of short texts. do you think that Dendron would play well with this sort of thing? I imagine id need to do some heavy cleanup from the mbox-> csv or the sqlite -> txt before going to.. Markdown doctor and then Dendron?

I don't have a

entry in the dendron.yml file. I created one and added the repo link to my cloned repository of the amplify template is that right? Also tried linking to the dendron notes repo.git without success

Okay I've figured it out now, still may be a configuration issue but I'll open a GitHub issue for clarity.

@kevins8 Looks to be that dendron publish cannot ask for git credentials, whereas git push on it's own can, so it fails
