I just realized that these errors occured in a new folder I created (just initialized), "dendron" but I think it's worth to find out the error though

, does the folder exist and what files are in it?

this folder doesn't exist, what I'd point to is /home/lightbulb/dendron-prog, but it changed it

but it's working now, the tree view is showing and the note graph is working

when you say you pointed it to

/home/lightbulb/dendron-prog

, is that what you typed when you run

which works fine. if you try to add

in a new workspace, do you still get the error?

Hi here is the log. The error message has changed - using Find in Files on the new number comes up empty. I tried it on the number above - also empty.

nope, thanks for the assistance. Multi vault works perfectly now

the error is from the tree view when it is unable to construct a tree because of missing children. i'm going to add some additional logs in tomorrows release so that we can see what note is causing this. the tree view is purely for UI so this shouldn't affect other dendron features

Hi Kevin - thanks. I am keeping the vault around but I am trying my hand at creating a fresh vault and then important / refactoring. Almost complete. I am happy to run the new log code on the old vault tomorrow if it is helpful to track down what is happening. I believe I caused the error - I renamed 100s of files outside of Dendron with Directory Opus. Perhaps that caused the error.

can you put the yml files and the templates into the assets folder or do they need to stay at the root?

hmm, as long as directory opus didn't change the file ids, that shouldn't be the case so if you could keep it around until tomorrow, that would be great 🙂

Thank you. I am starting to get the hang of things, finally. Do I need to keep the ROOT .md files? I have a schema for daily.journal where the notes are of the form daily.journal.2020.11.22.md as an example. There is a daily.md and a daily.journal.md that are both empty except for the Dendron header information. Do I need to keep these files to maintain the hierarchy?

nope. dendron will generate virtual notes as needed for the hierarchy to work

root.md and root.schema.yml are the only two files that are needed

I encounter this some issues with multiple vaults - For reasons I don't know my dendron.yml file include the full path to the initial vault. The Dendron Tree View stopped showing that vault afte I added another one. Once I changed it to a local path it works

- It seems ids need to be unique across all vaults. I had to run doctor to see both vaults in the Tree View

Now it works with the exception of a weird behaviour again in Tree View

The vault shown as root (vault) is in fact the gitjournal vault

@User yes, the ids are meant to be unique across all vaults. for the

dendron.yml

, we've made a change for dendron to read/write to the config to find vaults. this lets you add folders to your vscode workspace without making them into a dendron vault. since this was a new addition, we migrate your config file if no vaults are there. as for root, dendron tree view will display all notes by their "name". the root of all vaults is "root". we haven't synced the name property with the treeview yet 😅

Hey @HeyyyyJinn I figured I'd move our conversation over here instead of the Intro channel. Is it possible to Q1. Get folding by heading in the preview, like Obsidian does? A1. I don't think so. I haven't played with Obsidian and I don't usually look at the preview pane in VS Code. But I tried it out and while it folds by heading in the editable "source code" document, the preview doesn't fold. Maybe there's a setting that controls that, but I just don't know. Q2. Have nested folding by indent like with other languages or like outliners (Dynalist, Transno)? Maybe set Markdown Preview to ignore leading whitespaces so you can nest indents in the editor and still render it correctly? A2. I played around to check and it seems like the "source code" will fold by indent IF the indentation is part of a list. Nothing will fold if you have this:

Thing 1
  Subthing 1a
  Subthing 1b
Thing 2

But the indentations will fold if you have this:

- Thing 1
  - Subthing 1a
  - Subthing 1b
- Thing 2

Those lines could also start with numbers like
