    Move Note
only moves the selected note, itself, to a new vault. All backlinks, embeds, etc. will remain unchanged (except for any links to the note itself, which will be updated across vaults in your workspace). This is because users make use of other features such as cross vault links where notes are able to reference images and other notes existing in different vaults. - Move note: https://wiki.dendron.so/notes/srajljj10V2dl19nCSFiC/#move-note - Cross vault links: https://wiki.dendron.so/notes/3472226a-ff3c-432d-bf5d-10926f39f6c2/#cross-vault-links

I've imported ~1.7k notes, with around 250M of images. Dendron is really, really slow for me. I'm using VSCodium and with vscode vim. I often wait multiple seconds for the cmd-l note lookup to open, or several seconds after opening a note before the note is responsive to vim / editor commands. Is that usual? Maybe I have some clashes with other plugins? Any suggestions how to debug?

I'm not yet sure what I think about it, but I noticed, when I create a vault in one of my exisiting workspaces it recognizes our comment conventions like
    #TODO
    as Tag.

Yeah, the #hashtag is automatically linked to tags.hashtag. There is talk about how future proof this is in one of the issues.

I'm experimenting with new journal templates, but the note title defaults to the day, like
    "19"
    instead of
    "2021-01-19"
. The new note seems to ignore whatever I set as the title of the template. It also misses the
    trait: journalNote
stuff. I guess there's some hard coded core journal logic that I'm somehow overwriting?

yep, the nice date is only supported in the default journal format. note traits are meant to make that configurable going forward

Yeah, I eventually figured out it's because I was creating all my test notes via the lookup rather than via the calendar, and the traits are broken there, posted an issue.

Anyone here transitioned from Logseq to Dendron. I understand there are people who still use both, but I would like to know what if any do you find the upsides of using Dendron over Logseq or any outliner of its kind.

This isn't logseq per say but the main differences between using dendron and other tools are described in [How is Dendron different from X note taking tool?](https://wiki.dendron.so/notes/683740e3-70ce-4a47-a1f4-1f140e80b558.html#how-is-dendron-different-from-x-note-taking-tool)

Is it possible to create backlinks between multiple workspaces. From one of @User video I found an idea to create a separate workspace for work and personal use, but what if I would like to link a note between the two workspaces

just moved from joplin to dendron, and just wanted to point out that the migration site (https://wiki.dendron.so/notes/f9b4fc21-7613-4c8a-9257-cec4c06b67f9/) is a bit confusing because the mentioned joplin extension is to integrate with it, not move from it

perhaps you guys could change it to say that to export notes from joplin, you should export like this

dendron's md preview is vscode's right? so one can install exts/themes of that and it works?

No, Dendron uses a custom preview. You can still use VSCode's builtin preview but a lot of Dendron features won't work with it

on a side note, how can one change the theme of the preview?
  • s

    SeriousBug

    01/20/2022, 9:04 PM
Not entirely. We actually used to use Markdown Preview Enhanced for Dendron, but we found that it wasn't enough which is why we have the custom preview now. The custom preview also allows us to reuse code between publishing and preview, and means what you see in the preview is pretty much the same as what you would get when publishing.

Preview follows whether your VSCode theme is dark or light, other than that we currently don't support customizations. Please upvote this issue though so we can track interest in customizations: https://github.com/dendronhq/dendron/issues/1171

If you make one workspace available as a remote workspace, then you could add it to the other workspace as a remote vault. All vaults off the second workspace will be added to the first.

Whats the difference, create a task with scratch notes ( As I have seen in some videos ) or creating a task note
  • m

Do they both serve the same purpose and function ?
  • s

    SeriousBug

    01/22/2022, 8:49 AM
They are pretty similar, task notes just add some extra stuff to the frontmatter (like status and due date and more), and these fields are displayed in the editor if you look at a link to the task note. The purpose is different, scratch notes are scratchpads where you can take short notes, task notes are meant to track your todos.

Got it, for exmaple the video ' A day in Dendron ' I see Kevin using scratch notes to track tasks. But I supposed creating task notes is a more cleaner way with specific tasks tracking functions to manage TODOs
