Just switch to an SSD. I still get twitchy when I hear sata dom
r
Yea Im probably going to do that. The E300-9D case slim space though. But I’ll manage

M.2 is your friend
r
Your right I have two of them now. Just need a riser card which I ordered to use my super micro double slot nvme card. Then I need to set the bifurcation to slap the two M.2 970 evo sticks in. Then I can use the onboard M.2 one for the AOS is for the 6.5.2 CE. This is a new host I’m setting up for my lab. This Is so can do a two node cluster instead of the one I have now. Tired of shitting down all vm for maintenance I do. Doing this https://williamlam.com/2019/01/dual-intel-m-2-optane-4801x-in-supermicro-e300-9d.html
Another 200 bucks but it’s worth it to me. All though my wife says I have 6k in my lab when is it going to stop. “ ummm never my sweet heart “ lol
b
6k in what time frame? :)
e
It is slim indeed, let me know. When my SATA DOMs broke Fedex them from US to BR. That was expensive. Invest in 3 Noctua fans instead.
r
6k in 2 years. But yea, fans are a bit noisy. I have 2 of them in other super micro box that been running strong that @Leee Jeffries sold me a while back.

It never stops Ray, ha! I know I have a problem, but it lets me learn new things and test stuff out which means I can continue to earn. In my head it's no different from a commute to work and the price that costs. An expense for your job.
r
Most def. I started out with the small boxes you sent me, But I had to upgrade soon after. But yea, it's so hard not to keep investing in things. But those little boxes make a dang good desktop for my grandson.

Ha ha, brilliant! Glad it was put to good use mate. I have spent far too much money on my lab equipment. Basically all worth it though.
