You can change the start count on the identity pool
j
Can even do that in the gui nowadays :-)

and you can add explicit VMs using powershell if preferred 😁

If you have VDA01-VDA10 in prod and you're missing VDA05 & 06, if you reset the start count to 01, will it fill in the holes the next time you add machines to the MC?
j
ah, I don't know - I can't recall if the logic is to check for missing or not
m
Ahhh James buddy! 🙂 i just used the cloud portal to "manange AD accounts" and created the machine account and then added a new VDA to the MC and it created a new VM with the right name but when it boots up it has no trust with the domain
j
you did a what now?? Did you do multiple ninja moves there? Or just add a new machine with the count reset?
m
So i was missing VDA???-15. I went into ADUC and manually created a new computer account with that name. (if it's not there, you can't ADD machine in the cloud portal under Manage AD Accounts). Then went to the cloud portal, right clicked the MC -> manage ad accounts and then added it. then right clicked the MC and told it to add one machine and it created it using the VDA???-15 name. it booted up with no domain trust
I had not reset the machine count NUM at that point
j
you are overthinking it my friend -> you can simply use the wizard to "add machines", set your starting count, select the number of machines and go go go go (from memory)
or i could be completely mad and that option is not there entirely shrugs -> It's been a while

Maybe Shane's rubbing off on me... lord i hope not
