Director will display an error if the license server cannot upload telemetry data. I know because I inherited an environment that always had the error because we use a secure proxy to get out to the Internet. You have the ability to turn off telemetry within the license server preferences, which will make the error go away. With Citrix changing their policy on the telemetry feature, you will want to leave it on. If it fails to upload, Director will tell you.

Thanks for your answer. This is somehow strange - I'm sure that our license server can't connect to the internet. But director shows no errors in my case. Does someone know if the newly required telemetry data can be verified online? Is it required to register the License server at cloud.citrix.com?

Go to your Citrix Licensing Manager and sign in. Go to Settings > Usage and Statistics. At a minimum, the second option of "Help improve Citrix..." must be enabled in order to send in telemetry data.
