13.1 being feature release has had quite a few issues pop up. Overall, Citrix will say that tickets internally are down for 13.1 vs 13.0, etc. but reality seems different IMO. So come summer (official date now out as of last week I think for July for 13.0 slipping to end of maintenance), we will start having more of these conversations rolling into summer. Also with 13.1 everything needs converted policy wise to advanced which will be another thing to consider for those. I am guessing then 13.1 will/should be maintenance build and 14.0 will be a thing.

We've been doing all our new deployments on 13.1 since around build 33.x and had no real issues, apart from one syslog bug that turns out also exists in 13.0. Our deployments are not that complex though, mostly fairly standard Gateway, LB and GSLB setups.

Yea, very good point on that as the complexity of the feature set being used is big factor. Our 13.1s are just that - were net new Greenfield and base functionality along with GSLB

Thank you for your responses. I think we'll start off with some simple GW/ICA Proxy setups and start working from there. The Classic expression support end was a good pick @Oz Zy, thanks! Here's a ref if someone is looking in to this: https://docs.citrix.com/en-us/citrix-adc/current-release/appexpert/policies-and-expr[…]ction-to-policies-and-exp/classic-policy-deprecation-faq.html

That's a bummer 13.0 EOL's a short time after 12.1, which is what we're currently on. Due to the things Karl mentioned I was apprehensive to upgrade from 12.1 to 13.1 and was considering just going to 13.0 as an interim step until all the 13.1 "fun" got worked out, but I didn't realize we'd be right back in the same boat with 13.0 in a couple months. Pretty simple deployment here too but I was kind of just hoping to in-place upgrade and worry about greenfield to newly configured HA pairs at a more convenient time in the future.

You've got a year in between EOL on 12.1 (May23) and 13.0(Jul23). 13.0 is just end of maintenance in July 2023, so it will only get security related updates until it's end of life, same situation as you've had on 12.1 for the last yearish
o
yea, I"m still focusing on 13.0 right now as 13.1 for many of these is a whole conversion of expressions, sometimes advanced authentication migration, etc. So in the meantime, still doing smaller hops to 13.0 first and then worry about 13.1 for many

totally forgot about the expressions, yuck.
