I like VPC as part of the name

Some Examples I see: Datacenter = NA = Nashville VD/PA = Virtual Desktop/PublishApp P = Persistent NP = None-Persistent #### = 0001,0002 so on NAVDNP### Datacenter = NA = Nashville VD/PA = Virtual Desktop/PublishApp P = Persistent OS = W10/W19/W22 NP = None-Persistent #### = 0001,0002 so on NAVDNP### NAVDPW10### NAVDNPW22##

VPC-SAM## is also often used
be aware that Netbios cannot exceed 15 character 🙂

Yea, that was always my issue lol.

Maybe a bit overwhelming but here is my take for a rather complex environment. Syntax: <Prefix><Worker-Type><StageID><SiloID><Datacenter><Worker-Number> Prefix: W = Citrix Worker Worker-Type: N = Non-Persistent Pooled VDI S = Non-Persistent Static VDI P = Persistent VDI T = Non-Persistent RDSH/Terminalserver R = Persistent RDSH/Terminalserver Citrix-Site: D = DEV, U = UAT, I = PRE-PROD, P = PROD Worker-Stage: D = DEV, U = UAT, I = PRE-PROD, P = PROD SiloID: ## (01-99) Datacenter: P = Primary, B = Backup Worker-Number: ### (001-099 for EA* machines, 100-999 for general purpose machines) Example1: Citrix "Non-Persistent Pooled VDI Worker" in "PROD Stage" in "Citrix PROD Site" in "Silo01" in Datacenter "Primary" with number "001" for "Early Adopters" WNPP01P001 (EA* Worker in PROD) Example2: Citrix "Non-Persistent RDSH Worker" in "DEV Stage" in "Citrix PROD Site" in "Silo67" in Datacenter "Backup" with number "100" for "general purpose" WTPD67B100 (Worker in PROD) *Machines allocated for Pre-Release in PROD Stage (Early Adopters Phase).

We have something similar in our corp - and we need a decoder ring for it. To much input though by differing groups so by the time you're done describing the machine one letter at a time, there are only 2 char left for numbers...

true, if you can keep it as simple as possible. But in an highly automated environment with thousands of RDSHs/VDIs it might be helpful to gain as much info as possible from the hostname itself to help feed the scripts and workflows.
