nice setup! to bad NUCs only support the 32GB ram. already played with the thought to build a CE lab with a supermicro 2U Twin2. basically the hardware nutanix uses for their commercial 4 node blocks i guess.
j
yep i use 2u twin servers also
u
any link, info etc?
u
yeah, I'm in doubt regarding my training classes and the Skull with 32GB limit. I prefer more GB of memory than being able to play with HDX Pro, and the price isn't that different, at least for the E300, but then again its 1GB vs 10 GB, lots of stuff to think about. What to do the proper investment for the future....
j
price is similar
with 64 gb ram
d
https://www.supermicro.nl/products/nfo/2UTwin2.cfm are those chassis i thought about
j
yep same here
@User e200-8d with 64gb ram
before drives
around $1300
similar to what you will pay for skull canyon with drives
depending what drives you buy, could do that e200 for around $1800
u
Yeah I do like the e200-8d, not much bigger than an Mac Mini
u
So I could fit 4-5 of those in a Pelican 1535
u
For the Master Class, 10 students would be perfect, but reality is 5, so that should work just fine
u
I thinking about going all in with 256/512 Samsung 960 EVO M2, which means one in the M2 and one in PCI. At the moment Nutanix CE only uses NVMe for the hot tier, but cold is coming
d
for CE you also could go with HDD for cold tier unless you want all flash
j
Has nvme ssd and two sata ssd
PCI has gpu
Going to blog post setup
My portable rig will have 2 of those and 4 sk, two unifi 8 port Poe switches, unifi USG and ap.
Amd and Intel graphics
Home lab has grid
