This essentially caches the login objects so the page will be loaded from the cache. Should be fine. I'd need more info on the bug though. What are the details?
b
the bug is NSHELP-20121, what we are seeing is randomly our gateways will hang so users sees the page start to load but it never gets to the logon prompt
l
This would be a different way of loading the page, worth a shot. It won't make it any worse that's for sure.
b
I'm not so worried about the settings but rather if leaving the IC feature on could cause me more issues
l
I don't believe so. The only issue is if you make regular changes to the content you are loading. The older content can still be server from the cache for a period of time.
If this is just the gateway though, you should be okay.
b
I do run multiple gateways on this ADC... so far the bug has occured randomly twice, to different gateways

hey, whats up Leee. yea, I was thinking maybe if they are thinking related to IC, we can put a NOCACHE policy at the top of list and see if that simply mitigates instead of actually doing these IC settings and needing to enable/disable IC or whatever.
b
Additionally Citrix says I should be able to disable the IC feature after entering the config setting but I'm seeing that if I disable it, after doing the reboot it prompts for the setting is gone from the running config. If I leave IC enabled then it stays in the config (but I don't think I want to leave it enabled)
l
Yo Ozzy, you could. I think what they are hoping for though is that the content is loaded from the cache instead of directly from the page each time. Either setting is worth testing though to see what the impact may be. If the content is fairly static it should be fine.
Even when you disable caching I've still seen things cached. You can flush the cache at any point.
b
@Oz Zy you can see the setting is in the saved config, just not loaded into running with IC disabled
o
yea, the static stuff will cache even when IC disabled
staticlogon object category or whatever it is called

We’ve had (probably) the same bug intermittently on various NS firmwares trying to fix another bug that only shows on Unified Gateways with gateway resources published. In the end we reverted to a ICA only gateway to get rid of it on production and were still hit with this bug at that point. We first went the route of IC on aswell and still had occurences of the issue, only a reboot helped it in our case. At the end CTX had us disable IC feature and set set aaa parameter -EnableStaticPageCaching NO on the Gateway to completely kill caching, we haven’t seen the issue since (1 month ago now)
That’s a global setting aswell btw, so ‘on the gateway’ might be a poor choice of words from me there. 😬
b
thanks for the info, Citrix just suggested that setting to us until they fix it in firmware

Hmm, this is interesting. We have had that issue a few times over time with our ShareFile login page (on our Netscaler/ADC). I wonder if it is related. It doesn't happen often, but when it does, it typically only affects a couple users for a period of time and then goes away. Hasn't happened enough to make it a priority to get fixed, but if it is that simple of a workaround. It might be worth doing.
