In my experience if the HD fills up, there is an underlying issue (like log files not being rotated, many crash dumps and such) I would try to figure why it was filling up and fix that issues. Another discussion is the why the hell the default size hasn’t been increased, and it’s becoming a bigger issue now with 800MB+ firmwares and a requirement for 4GB free space.

Pretty much every single time i have seen Netscalers with /var being full it is either crash dumps/Network traces / firmware files and logs not rotating and clearing down

Ok! Cool, thanks dudes. I’ll do a bit more digging

I have expanded /var partition, so far only on one instance. But going to to on the rest of VPX instances. Needed to collect longer traces. video is for older VPX firmware but worked on mine v.13. x.x too

I had a command set I would send out through ADM that purged all logs over 6 months, older versions of OS and things like that.

Update: What is everyone's preferred method for monitoring disk space usage on their ADCs? I checked the ADM docs, and they don't appear to offer a canned report for disk usage that you can add to a dashboard or have sent out as a daily email. I used to work in a place that used Powershell Nitro to poll ADM for disk/cpu/memory info, is that still the preferred method? I could probably cook something up via this method

That is the only method I have seen besides the check done during firmware updates by ADM.
