You can do this through GPO very easily if you have the VID and PID of the devices. We do it for our Dragon microphones: https://support.citrix.com/article/CTX137939 Example of one of our GPO registry entries: Key: HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Citrix\ICA Client\GenericUSB\Devices\VID0554 PID1001 Value: AutoRedirect Data: 1
k
I was looking at that but it was not working as I would expect it too.. did you do anything with the 'Existing USB Devices' policy for Receiver? I'll take another look at that setting though, maybe I mistyped a pid/vid..
n
We do, yes. We have it set to display a message to the user and let them select. We don't want all devices automatically redirected.
k
Yeah... for this particular group they want it to auto attach, no dialogs.
n
That AutoRedirect key should do that for you. We set the other policy to prompt, but the reg keys automatically map the devices without user intervention.
Redirect, not map.

Here is a write up i did 3 years ago. My grammer is bad because i never published it. It was all USB test i performed.

Nice Ray. I uploaded that to our internal documentation portal to help better explain to my team.
r
Cool. Just ignore my bad grammer lol
Here is another one. Little simpler. This is what Nick was saying @Kevin Schwartzmiller. USB for citrix has reallly impressed me the last 3-4 years
l
Go on Ray, way to contribute dude ;-) when's your blog site coming out?
n

@Ray Davis - Do it!
k
Thanks for the documents @Ray Davis!
r
Not a prob 👍. Looking at citrixirc to blog
k
In testing it seems the only way for me to get this to work is to remove the catch all within DeviceSettings registry key "ALLOW: # Otherwise allow everything else" and the enable the automatic pass-through attachment via the "Exisiting USB Devices" Citrix Receiver setting. A lot of management overhead with that though, but it seems to be the only selective way
r
@Ray Davis send me your personal email via PM and i'll send you an invite to blog
or corporate email, it really doesn't matter... any email. 🙂

@Kevin Schwartzmiller so you only wanting to allow one specific usb device? You can allow the class and then subclasses of the devices. Then deny the rest. The order i believe will be too to bottom. I wouldn't do it via individual reg settings. Do it will GPO or Studio Some examples <https//support.citrix.com/article/CTX129558|https//support.citrix.com/article/CTX129558>

@Ray Davis Thanks for the doc! We're going through it now to see if we can get our scanners (looks like same ones you have) to work on XA 7.15 desktop.
